Abstract

We prepare many-body Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states in a nuclear spin ensemble (51V in YVO4) via engineered interaction with a central spin (171Yb). Decoherence-free subspaces, protected from correlated noise, are investigated.

Decoherence of a Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state in a five‐qubit NMR quantum computer

Minaru Kawamura, Takuji Morimoto, Yoshiyuki Mori +3 more

Abstract This work provides a simple approximate method of creating a Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state with high fidelity, using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques, and reports on the decoherence process for these GHZ states, which is observed with a pair of encoder and decoder quantum circuits. The prepared GHZ states are verified by measuring the quantum correlations, which are well known as GHZ correlations. The results of the decoherence experiments, show that the GHZ states decay faster than bipartite entangled states such as Bell states by a factor of 1.3, and it appears that two different decoherence processes exist. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Many-body protected entanglement generation in interacting spin systems

Ana María Rey, Liang Jiang, Michael Fleischhauer +2 more

We discuss a method to achieve decoherence resistant entanglement generation in strongly interacting ensembles of two-level spin systems. Our method uses designed gapped Hamiltonians to create a protected manifold of multidegenerate levels which is robust against local decoherence processes. We apply the protected evolution to achieve decoherence resistant generation of many-particle Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states in two specific physical systems, trapped ions and neutral atoms in optical lattices, and discuss how to engineer the desired many-body protected manifold with them. We analyze the fidelity of GHZ generation and show our method can significantly increase the sensitivity in frequency spectroscopy.

Protected solid-state qubits

Jeroen Danon, Anasua Chatterjee, András Gyenis +1 more

The implementation of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers calls for the integration of millions of physical qubits with very low error rates. This outstanding engineering challenge may benefit from emerging qubits that are protected from dominating noise sources in the qubits' environment. In addition to different noise reduction techniques, protective approaches typically encode qubits in global or local decoherence-free subspaces, or in dynamical sweet spots of driven systems. We exemplify such protected qubits by reviewing the state-of-art in protected solid-state qubits based on semiconductors, superconductors, and hybrid devices.

Generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states for silicon-vacancy centers using a decoherence-free subspace

Yi‐Fan Qiao, Jia‐Qiang Chen, Xing‐Liang Dong +5 more

Generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states of solid-state spins is of great significance for quantum metrology and quantum error correction. We propose here an efficient scheme for generating high fidelity GHZ states in a solid-state setup where multiple silicon-vacancy (SiV) centers are embedded in a quasi-one-dimensional acoustic diamond waveguide. The lattice distortion gives rise to a strong strain coupling between the orbital degree of freedom of SiV centers and the continuum phonon modes. Due to the permutation symmetry, we can take advantage of the decoherence-free subspace to avoid dissipation. Under the quantum Zeno regime, two control fields are used to achieve a ladderlike coupling structure in decoherence-free subspace along with an off-resonant two-photon Raman transition process. We calculate the pulse sequences for $N=4$ and at the same time analyze the effect of different collective decay rates. Moreover, we consider the disorder in the imperfect position of SiV centers and the inhomogeneous strain coupling. This paper may provide a feasible protocol for the generation of GHZ states in a solid-state system.

One-step generation of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of multi solid-state spin qubits

Sheng-li Ma, Fuli Li, Fuli Li

We propose a one-step scheme for the generation of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of multi solid-state qubits and the implementation of quantum phase gates in a system consisting of N spatially separated nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to the whispering-gallery mode (WGM) of a microsphere cavity. The proposed scheme is based on the effective electronic dipole–dipole interaction between electron spins associated with the NV centers, which is mediated by the WGM and applying external driving laser fields. As the spontaneous emission of the excited states of the NV centers is highly suppressed and the cavity mode is only virtually excited, the scheme is insensitive to decoherence.
