Abstract

LDPC (Low Density Parity Check Codes) is a low -density puppet test code applied to channel codes. Among the existing LDPC decoding algorithms, the LLR-BP decoding arithmetic is too complicated to calculate the calculation due to the containing a large number of bilateral positive cut functions. Therefore, this article proposes a LDPC decoding algorithm that combines the Modified Weighted Bit Flipping Decoding Algorithm (MWBF) with the Logarithmic Likelihood Ratio Based Confidence Propagation Algorithm (LLR-BP). In the process of the LLR-BP decoding iteration, the introduction of the MWBF algorithm not only does it reduce the complexity of iteration and decoding, but also avoids the traditional weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithm (WBF). Excessive effects of code performance.

Theoretic approach to BP-based WBF decoding algorithm of LDPC codes

Erl‐Huei Lu, Tso-Cho Chen, Pen‐Yao Lu

A theoretic approach to the belief-propagation - based weighted bit-flipping (BP-based WBF) algorithm is proposed for decoding low-density parity-check codes. The decoding algorithm can be easily simplified to IMWBF, MWBF, WBF or BF decoding algorithms by setting different parameters; hence it could offer a high flexible performance/complexity trade-off for hybrid decoding.

Low-complexity decoding of LDPC codes using reduced-set WBF-based algorithms

Sadjad Haddadi, Mahmoud Farhang, Mostafa Derakhtian

Abstract We propose a method to substantially reduce the computational complexity of iterative decoders of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes which are based on the weighted bit-flipping (WBF) algorithm. In this method, the WBF-based decoders are modified so that the flipping function is calculated only over a reduced set of variable nodes. An explicit expression for the achieved complexity gain is provided and it is shown that for a code of block length N, the decoding complexity is reduced from O(N2) to O(N). Moreover, we derive an upper bound for the difference in the frame error rate of the reduced-set decoders and the original WBF-based decoders, and it is shown that the error performances of the two decoders are essentially the same.

Combined modified weighted bit-flipping decoding of low-density parity-check codes

Haiyi Huang, Yige Wang, Gang Wei

In this paper, we propose a combined modified weighted bit-flipping (CM-WBF) algorithm for low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. The new algorithm combines modified weighted bit-flipping (M-WBF) with low complexity weighted bit-flipping (LC-WBF). Simulation results show that the new algorithm offers a better trade-off among performance, complexity, and convergence compared with M-WBF, LC-WBF and RR-WBF algorithms for finite geometry LDPC (FG-LDPC) codes.

Sum of the magnitude based weighted bit-flipping decoding algorithms for LDPC codes

Zhang Gao-yua

Two simple and efficient weighted bit flipping(WBF)decoding algorithms for low density paritycheck(LDPC)codes are proposed,in which the sum of the variable nodes' magnitude is introduced to compute the reliability of the parity checks.Simulation results shows that the performance of one of the improved scheme is better than that of traditional WBF and modified WBF(MWBF)algorithms about 1.65dB and 1.31dB at BER of 10-5 over an additive white Gaussian noise channel, respectively, while the average number of decoding iterations is significantly reduced.

Improved Decoding Algorithms Based on Oscillation Log-likelihood Ratio for Low-density Parity Check Codes

DONG Zijian -, BI Xuyin -

Several decoding algorithms based on oscillation Log-likelihood ratio (LLR) for Lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes are investigated in this paper, based on which, an improved decoding algorithm which uses the accumulated LLR as the final bit decision merit is proposed. This approach improves the decoding performance with only a very small increase in storage and computation. Combined with normalized belief-propagation (BP), two algorithms are given, which are named as accumulate normalized BP (ACC-Nor-BP) and compare-add normalized BP (CA-Nor-BP). The storage requirements and computational complexity of ACC-Nor-BP is lower than that of CA-Nor-BP and CA-BP, but performance is close to the CA-Nor-BP and better than CA-BP; therefore ACC-Nor-BP algorithm is an effectively improved BP algorithm which has a good balance between performance and complexity.

Improved LDPC decoding algorithms based on min-sum algorithm

Y.V. A. C. Kumara, Chandika Bandara Wavegedara

Low-Density Parity check (LDPC) codes offer high-performance error correction near the Shannon limit which employs large code lengths and some iterations in the decoding process. The conventional decoding algorithm of LDPC is the Log Likelihood Ratio based Belief Propagation (LLR BP) which is also known as the `Sum-Product algorithm' which gives the best decoding performance and requires the most computational complexity and implementations with increased hardware complexity. Another simpler variant of this algorithm is used which is known as `min-sum algorithm' which reduces computational complexity as well as hardware complexity but with reduced accuracy. This paper analyzes the reason min-sum algorithm is more prone to errors when compared to the sum-product algorithm, and puts forward two improved algorithms which improve the performance of the min-sum algorithm with comparable algorithmic complexity.
