Abstract

In this chapter, quantum-assisted learning is introduced to aggregate data from the IoMT sensors for possible data processing and storage. The model is designed in such a way that it reduces redundant information and improves the flexibility of processing data. The entire modeling is conducted in a simulation environment to test the effectiveness of data aggregation from IoMT and its associated complexity. Experimental validation shows a reduced complex data aggregation task than with other methods.

Hybrid Quantum–Classical Algorithms for High-Precision Sensor Fusion in Robotics Applications

Abdullah Genc

The fusion of quantum computing and robotics represents a frontier in computational intelligence, promising to overcome the limitations of classical sensor fusion methods in precision, scalability, and real-time adaptability. This study proposes a hybrid quantum–classical framework designed to enhance the integration and synchronization of LiDAR, visual, and inertial sensor data, ultimately improving robotic perception and spatial awareness in complex environments. The model employs quantum-assisted optimization techniques to handle high-dimensional uncertainty, noise propagation, and data redundancy challenges inherent in multi-sensor processing. By leveraging variational quantum circuits and classical machine learning optimizers, the hybrid model achieves efficient data correlation and error minimization during sensor alignment. Benchmark experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficiency and precision of the proposed quantum-assisted sensor fusion system relative to conventional data integration algorithms. The findings reveal that hybrid quantum–classical systems yield substantial improvements in localization accuracy, temporal synchronization, and resilience to sensor noise, while maintaining computational feasibility within near-term quantum devices. This work highlights the potential of quantum-enhanced perception frameworks to accelerate the next generation of autonomous robotics, providing a foundation for adaptive control, intelligent navigation, and mission-critical decision-making under uncertainty.

Blockchain-Enabled Secure Signature Scheme With Quantum Key Distribution for IoMT-Based Healthcare Systems

Sunil Prajapat, Deepika Gautam, Pankaj Kumar +3 more

The rapid expansion of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) networks has enabled continuous data collection from diverse medical sensors and devices, supporting real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and decision-making. However, the resource limitations of IoT nodes and the open nature of communication channels make healthcare data vulnerable to security and privacy breaches. To address these challenges, this paper presents a blockchain-assisted, privacy-preserving signature scheme leveraging Quantum Key Distribution $(\mathcal {QKD})$ to ensure secure and trustworthy data sharing in Healthcare Internet of Things (H-IoT) environments. The proposed scheme integrates a quantum-designated verifier signature mechanism with a private blockchain infrastructure, where peer nodes validate and store healthcare data securely. Formal (software-based) and informal security analyses demonstrate the scheme's resistance to forgery, replay, and quantum attacks. Simulation experiments conducted in Python show that the proposed protocol achieves strong cryptographic performance, with a computational cost of 42.1ms and a communication overhead of 834 bits. Additionally, a blockchain-based prototype implementation quantifies the time required to append various numbers of blocks and process multiple healthcare transactions, confirming the scalability and practicality of the proposed solution. The results affirm that the scheme offers a reliable, efficient, and quantum-resilient framework for securing sensitive medical data across distributed IoMT healthcare systems.

Quantum readout and gradient deep learning model for secure and sustainable data access in IWSN

Omar A. Alzubi

The industrial wireless sensor network (IWSN) is a surface-type of wireless sensor network (WSN) that suffers from high levels of security breaches and energy consumption. In modern complex industrial plants, it is essential to maintain the security, energy efficiency, and green sustainability of the network. In an IWSN, sensors are connected to the Internet in a non-monitored environment. Hence, non-authorized sensors can retrieve information from the IWSN. Therefore, to ensure that data access between sensors remains sustainable and secure, energy-efficient authentication and authorization are required. In this article, a novel Quantum Readout Gradient Secured Deep Learning (QR-GSDL) model is proposed to ensure that only trustworthy sensors can access IWSN data. The major objective of this QR-GSDL model is to create secure, energy-efficient IWSN to attain green sustainability and reduce the industrial impact on the environment. First, using the quantum readout and hash function, a registration method is designed to efficiently perform the registration process. Next, a gradient secured deep learning method is adopted to implement the authentication and authorization process in order to ensure energy-saving and secure data access. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the QR-GSDL model and compare its performance with that of three well-known models: online threshold anomaly detection, machine learning-based anomaly detection, and dynamic CNN. The simulation outcomes show that the proposed model is secure and energy-efficient for use in the IWSN. Moreover, the experimental results prove that the QR-SGDL model outperforms the existing models in terms of energy consumption, authentication rate, authentication time, and false acceptance rate.

Quantum Machine Learning and Its Applications

Weiwei Zhu-Stone, George Stone, Yan Waguespack

Quantum computing and quantum machines continue to raise awareness once people realized that “Nature isn’t classical. If you want to make a simulation of nature, you’d better make it quantum mechanical.” ( Feynman, 1982 ). On the other hand, as the Internet brings big data, machine learning has become a logical step for researchers looking for tasks such as the patterns behind the data, or for companies seeking to maximize their data’s potential value. The combination of the quantum computing and machine learning (ML) fields has resulted in quantum machine learning (QML), one of today’s most active fields. This preview provides essential concepts in quantum computation, including the basic quantum physics and fundamentals of quantum computing. The next section examines quantum-enhanced ML models and algorithms. The current state of knowledge of applications is discussed in the following section and the preview concludes with open questions for future research on QML.
