Abstract

We have studied the squeezing and entanglement properties of the light induced by a three-level laser coupled to the squeezed vacuum reservoir. Applying the pertinent master equation, we have obtained the evolution equations for the cavity mode variables. Using the solutions of the resulting equations, the squeezing properties, entanglement amplification, and the normalized second-order correlation function of the cavity radiation are described. We have seen that the light generated by a three-level laser is in a squeezed state, and the squeezing occurs in the plus quadrature. In addition, we have also established that the effect of the squeezed parameter increases the mean and variance of the photon number. It is found that the squeezing and entanglement in the two-mode light are directly related. As a result, an increase in the degree of squeezing directly leads to an increase in the degree of entanglement and vice versa. This shows that, whenever there is squeezing in the two-mode light, there exists an entanglement in the system.

Entanglement amplification by three-level laser coupled to vacuum reservoir

Menisha Alemu, Tolessa, Fekadu, Birke Alemu

In this paper we have studied the squeezing and entanglement properties of the cavity light generated by a three-level laser. In this quantum optical system, N three-level atoms available in an open cavity, coupled to a two-mode vacuum reservoir, are pumped to the top level by means of electron bombardment at constant rate. Applying the solutions of the equations of evolution for the expectation values of the atomic operators and the quantum Langevin equations for the cavity mode operators, we have calculated the mean, variance of the photon number, the quadrature squeezing, entanglement amplification as well as the normalized second-order correlation function for the cavity light. In addition, we have shown that the presence of the spontaneous emission process leads to a decrease in the mean and variance of the photon number. We have observed that the two-mode cavity light is in a squeezed state and the squeezing occurs in the minus quadrature. In addition, we have found that the effect of the vacuum reservoir noise is to increase the photon-number variance and to decrease the quadrature squeezing of the cavity light. However, the vacuum reservoir noise does not have any effect on the mean photon number. Moreover, the maximum quadrature squeezing of the light generated by the laser, operating far below threshold, is found to be below the vacuum-state level. In addition, our result indicates that the quadrature squeezing is greater for than that for for 0.01 < < 0.35 and is smaller for than that for for 0.35 < < 1. We have also noted that the squeezing and entanglement in the two-mode light are directly related. As a result, an increase in the degree of squeezing directly leads to an increase in the degree of entanglement and vice versa. This shows that, whenever there is squeezing in the two-mode light, there exists an entanglement in the system.

Lambda-type Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

The squeezing, entanglement, and statistical properties of light produced by lambda-type three-level laser coupled to squeezed vacuum reservoir have been studied. We have determined the quadrature variances mean as well as variance photon number photon for cavity modes with the aid of the solutions of c-number Langevin equations associated with the normal order. The results show that the light produced by the system under consideration in squeezed state. The squeezed vacuum reservoir enhances both the quadrature squeezing and mean photon numbers. In addition, the mean photon number of mode b is greater than that of a if more atoms injected with state |a>. We have calculated the quadrature variances of the cavity modes, the result shows that the light produced by the system under consideration is in squeezed state and the squeezing occurs in the minus quadrature. The result also shows that the effect of the squeezed vacuum reservoir is not only enhancing the degree of squeezing for the light modes but also to generate the photons for the system under consideration. The system produce entangled two mode light that increase with η and linear gain coefficient but decrease with squeezing parameters. The correlation function of the two modes decreases as η, the linear gain coefficient and increase with squeezing parameter.

Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

We analyze the quantum properties of the light generated by a three-level laser with an open cavity and coupled to a two-mode squeezed vacuum reservoir via a single-port mirror. The three-level laser consists of three-level atoms available in an open cavity and pumped from the bottom to the top level by means of electron bombardment. Applying the large-time approximation scheme, we have obtained the steady-state solutions of the equations of evolution for the expectation values of the atomic operators and the quantum Langevin equations for the cavity mode operators. Using the resulting steady-state solutions, we have calculated the mean photon number, the variance of the photon number, and the quadrature variance for the two-mode cavity light. We have seen that the light generated by the three-level laser is in a squeezed state and the squeezing occurs in the plus quadrature. It so turns out that the maximum quadrature squeezing of the two-mode cavity light is 45:68% for M0 = 0:59 and N0 = 0:27 below the vacuum-state level. In addition, we have shown that the effect of the squeezed parameter is to increase the mean and variance of the photon number.

V-type Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

Gomera Biyazn, Misrak Gatahun

The squeezing, entanglement, and statistical properties of cavity modes produced by V-type three-level laser coupled to squeezed vacuum reservoir were studied employing the steady state solutions of the expectation values of the cavity mode operators. The study showed that a light in squeezing state can be produced by the system under consideration under the condition that the cavity decay constant is larger than linear gain coefficient and the squeezing occurs in the plus-quadrature. The cavity modes do not exhibit entanglement properties. It is also observed that the degree of squeezing increases with the linear gain coefficient and squeezing parameter. We also determined the mean and variance of the photon number, intensity difference fluctuations, and the second order correlation function of the two modes. The mean and variance of the photon number as well as the correlation function of two modes decrease as the difference of the probability of the two states at initial time increases. The photons have super-poissionian statistics. The point, η, at which the maximum intensity difference fluctuation occurred depends on linear gain coefficient but not squeezing parameter. The result shows that the correlation of the two modes decreases as η the linear gain coefficient and squeezing parameter.

Enhanced Squeezing and Entanglement in Nondegenerate Three-Level Laser Coupled to Squeezed Vacuum Reservoir

Ebisa Mosisa

Squeezing and entanglement of a two-mode cascade laser, produced by a three-level atom which is initially prepared by a coherent superposition of the top and bottom levels then injected into a cavity coupled to a two-mode squeezed vacuum reservoir is discussed. I obtain stochastic differential equations associated with the normal ordering using the pertinent master equation. Making use of the solutions of the resulting differential equations, we determined the mean photon number for the cavity mode and their correlation, EPR variables, smallest eigenvalue of the symplectic matrix, intensity difference fluctuation, and photon number correlation. It is found that the squeezed vacuum reservoir increases the degree of the statistical and nonclassical features of light produced by the system. Furthermore, using the criteria developed by logarithm negativity and Hillery-Zubairy criteria, the quantum entanglement of the cavity mode is quantified. It is found that the degree of the entanglement for the system under consideration increases with the squeezing parameter of the squeezed vacuum reservoir.

Generation of Entangled Light from a Nondegenerate Three-Level Laser Coupled to a Two-Mode Vacuum Reservoir

Tamirat Abebe, Chimdessa Gashu Feyisa

The quantum properties of a nondegenerate three-level cascade laser coupled to a two-mode vacuum reservoir are throughly analyzed with the use of the pertinent master equation and stochastic differential equations associated with the normal ordering. Particularly, the enhancement of squeezing and the amplification of photon entanglement of the two-mode cavity light are investigated. It is found that the two cavity modes are strongly entangled, and the degree of entanglement is directly related to the two-mode squeezing. Moreover, the squeezing and entanglement of the cavity radiation enhance with the rate of atomic injection.
