Abstract

With digital technology and increasingly linked economies comes a new set of risks from a slew of cyber-attacks. To improve cyber resilience, a cybersecurity capability system comprised of People, Process, and Technology is required to control the ongoing advancement of science and technology, particularly the quantum computer. As a result, attempts have been undertaken to lay new groundwork for cryptography research in computer communication networks. One of these attempts resulted in the creation of quantum cryptography technology, the security of which is based on quantum mechanics rules. Cyberspace security has emerged as the most important problem for the Internet in the foreseeable future. The objective of this research paper is to discuss the flaws and security problems in contemporary encryption, quantum cryptography essential concepts, real-world application use of this technology, and lastly the future direction of quantum cryptography.

Quantum cryptography: An emerging technology in network security

Mehrdad S. Sharbaf

The uses of computer communications networks technologies have increased the incidents of computer abuse. Because of these incidents, most organizations facing pressure to protect their assets. Most digital networks generally rely on modern cryptosystems to secure the confidentiality and integrity of traffic carried across the network. The current modern cryptosystems based on mathematical model introduce potential security holes related to technological progress of computing power, the key refresh rate and key expansion ratio, the most crucial parameters in the security of any cryptographic techniques. For that reason efforts have been made to establish new foundation for cryptography science in the computer communications networks. One of these efforts has led to the development of quantum cryptography technology, whose security relies on the laws of quantum mechanics [1,2,3,20, 24]. This research paper concentrates on quantum cryptography, and how this technology contributes to the network security. The scope of this research paper is to cover the weaknesses, and the security pitfalls in modern cryptography, fundamental concepts of quantum cryptography, the real - world application implementation of this technology, finally the future direction in which the quantum cryptography is headed forwards.

Enhancing Cybersecurity with Quantum Cryptography: A Survey of Emerging Protocols

Maulik D Trivedi, Maitrik Shah, Pragneshkumar Patel, Zishan Noorani, Payal Prajapati, Archana Gondaliya

The rapidly advancing computational capacity of modern computers is making traditional encryption techniques more and more susceptible in the ever-changing field of cybersecurity. Using the ideas of quantum mechanics, quantum cryptography presents a viable way to improve security by introducing protocols that are impervious to hacking attempts based on classical computation. This paper offers an extensive overview of newly developed quantum cryptography methods intended to protect digital communication against present and potential dangers, such as those originating from quantum computers. The potential of key protocols like post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution (QKD) to supplement or replace current encryption techniques is investigated. The report outlines the benefits of quantum cryptography, such as its capacity to safeguard wide-scale networks, its ability to detect eavesdropping in real-time, and its unbreakable encryption. It also covers the real-world difficulties in putting these protocols into practice, like budgetary constraints, infrastructure needs, and technology constraints. This survey highlights the critical necessity to implement quantum cryptography solutions as a foundation for future-proof cybersecurity frameworks as the world draws closer to the era of quantum computing
