Abstract

Abstract We study quantum correlations encoded in a three-flavor neutrino system by using complete complementarity relations (CCR). Due to the presence of local coherence in two-flavor subsystems, the CCR has an additional contribution not present in the two flavor mixing case. We investigate such coherence for the three possible bipartite subsystems of the global state both for an electron and a muon neutrino system.

Quantifying quantumness in three-flavor neutrino oscillations

Victor A. S. V. Bittencourt, Massimo Blasone A, Silvio De Siena +1 more

Abstract We characterize quantum correlations encoded in a three-flavor oscillating neutrino system by using both plane-wave and wave-packet approach. By means of the Complete Complementarity Relations (CCR) we study the trade-off of predictability, local coherence and non-local correlations in terms of the relevant parameters, chosen from recent neutrino experiments. Although the CCR describe very well the contributions associated to bipartite correlations, an attempt of promoting these relations to include the genuine tri-partite contributions in the pure-state case leads to a not completely meaningful result. However, we provide an analysis of the genuine tripartite contributions both for the pure instance and for the mixed case, independently of CCR.

Complete complementarity relations for quantum correlations in neutrino oscillations

Victor A. S. V. Bittencourt, Massimo Blasone A, Silvio De Siena +1 more

Abstract We analyze quantum correlations and quantum coherence in neutrino oscillations. To this end, we exploit complete complementarity relations (CCR) that fully characterize the interplay between different correlations encoded in a quantum system both for pure and mixed states. We consider the CCR for neutrino oscillations both in the case of plane-waves (pure state) and of wave packets (mixed state). In this last case we find a complex structure of correlations depending on the mixing angle, and we show the connection with the non local advantage of quantum coherence, a relevant quantifier of coherence.

Complete complementarity relations for quantum correlations in neutrino oscillations with CP violation

Massimo Blasone A, Silvio De Siena, Cristina Matrella

We characterize quantum correlations encoded in a three-flavor oscillating neutrino system by taking into account CP violation. By means of the complete complementarity relations (CCR), we study the trade-off of predictability, local coherence and nonlocal correlations by using relevant parameters given by neutrino oscillation experiments. Although the CCR describe very well the contributions associated to bipartite correlations, we explore the possible presence of genuine tripartite correlations, by exploiting polygamy relations. We also provide some observations about the nonlocal advantage of quantum coherence, a mazy quantum correlation characterizing the most valuable, nonlocal, portion of quantum coherence in a multi-partite system.

Monogamy properties of quantum correlations in neutrino oscillations

Guang-Jie Wang, Yuwen Li, Lijuan Li +2 more

Abstract The monogamy relation of quantum states has limited the shareability properties of quantum resources in multiparty quantum systems. It plays a vital role in information distribution and transformation over many sites in quantum communications. Here, we focus on the monogamy relations of quantum correlations in the context of three-flavor neutrino oscillations, related to the squared entanglement of formation, the squared of quantum discord and its geometric variant. The monogamy relations in terms of the squared entanglement of formation work for the electron and muon antineutrino oscillations, suggesting that the bipartite entanglement measured by squared entanglement of formation of the three-flavor neutrino system set a limitation to the sum of pairwise squared entanglement of formation. Furthermore, we found that the squared quantum discord is also monogamous in three-flavor neutrino system. As a comparison, we test the monogamy of the quantum discord in neutrino oscillations with the result that the quantum discord is not monogamous. In addition, it is found that the bipartite geometric quantum discord of three-flavor systems is equal to the sum of the pairwise geometric quantum discord, i.e., the monogamy relation for geometric quantum discord is saturated for three-flavor neutrino system. These monogamy relations of quantum correlations provide a way for studying the distribution of quantum resources in neutrino oscillations, which is of significance to explore the further applications of neutrino oscillations in quantum communications.

Coherent dynamics of flavor mode entangled neutrinos

Ashutosh Kumar Alok, Massimo Blasone A, Trambak Jyoti Chall +2 more

As the lynchpin of all quantum correlations, quantum coherence is fundamental for distinguishing quantum systems from classical ones and is essential for realizing quantum advantages in areas such as computation, communication, and metrology. In this study, we investigate the relationship between quantum coherence and neutrino oscillations within the two and three flavor-mode qubit frameworks. Our analysis extends beyond the commonly used l 1 -norm and relative entropy of coherence to include all relevant measures of coherence such as robustness of coherence, coherence concurrence, trace-norm distance measure of coherence, coherence of formation, Schatten- p -norm-based functionals, geometric coherence and logarithmic coherence rank, each offering unique insights into the quantum correlations in these systems. Notably, while the l 1 -norm and relative entropy-based measures apply to general quantum states, the other measures are particularly relevant for entangled systems, highlighting the critical role of entanglement in neutrino oscillations. We present a detailed methodology for calculating coherence measures in both two-flavor and three-flavor mixing scenarios, contributing to a deeper understanding of how quantum coherence manifests and evolves in mode-entangled neutrino systems. Our findings emphasize the potential of these systems as robust candidates for quantum information tasks, facilitated by the weak interaction nature of neutrinos.
