Abstract

We investigate a generalized Jaynes-Cummings model with the external field driving the cavity mode. The numerical results for the dynamics of the atom and the cavity field mode are given. Approximated solutions to the Schrodinger equation are supplied, which allow us to predict the kinematics of the Q(a, or*) function in the complex plane.

Invariant approach to the driven Jaynes-Cummings model

Ivan A. Bocanegra-Garay, Leonardi Hernández-Sánchez, I. Ramos-Prieto +2 more

We investigate the dynamics of the driven Jaynes-Cummings model, where a two-level atom interacts with a quantized field and both, atom and field, are driven by an external classical field. Via an invariant approach, we are able to transform the corresponding Hamiltonian into the one of the standard Jaynes-Cummings model. Subsequently, the exact analytical solution of the Schrödinger equation for the driven system is obtained and employed to analyze some of its dynamical variables.

Solution of Generalized Jaynes-Cummings Model for many Particle Systems

NICKOLAI N. BOGOLUBOV, M. Yu. Rasulova, Ilhom Tishabaev

We consider the dynamics of a system consisting of N two-level atoms interacting with a multi-mode cavity field. For the given system, the generalized kinetic equation is obtained and conditions are given under which its solution is reduced to solution of a linear equation, and of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation, respectively.

Dynamics of the Driven Jaynes–Cummings Model

Liping Fu, Zheng Shi-Biao, Guo Guang-Can

We study the dynamical features of the Jaynes–Cummings model with the atom driven by an external classical field in the case that the cavity field is initially in a Fock state. We find the dynamical variables by using dressed states in the bare atom representation. We show that the dynamical behavior of the cavity field can be strongly modified by the external classical field. We also find that the cavity field is super-Poissonian after some interaction time if the external field is strong enough.

Extended Jaynes-Cummings Models In Cavity Qed

Jonas Larson

Due to the improvement within cavity quantum electrodynamics experiments during the last decades, what was former seen as 'toy models' are today realized in laboratories. A controlled isolated coherent evolution of one or a few atoms coupled to a single mode inside a cavity is achievable. Such systems are well suited for studying purely quantum mechanical effects, and also for performing quantum gates, necessary for quantum computing. The Jaynes-Cummings model has served as a theoretical description of the interaction. However, as the experimental techniques are improved, for example, atom cooling, the use of multi-level atoms or multi-modes and driving of atoms or elds by external lasers, extensions of the original Jaynes-Cummings model are needed. In this thesis we study some of these extended models, and in particular multi-level models, time-dependent models and quantized motion models. Both analytical and numerical analysis are considered. The two-level structure of the Jaynes-Cummings model leads to applications of known solvable time-dependent two-level Schrödinger equations. In other cases, di erent forms of adiabatic approximate solutions are used, and with the analytically solvable models, the amplitudes of non-adiabatic contributions may be estimated. For higher dimensional systems, STIRAP and multi-STIRAP methods are applied. It is shown how the time-dependent models may be used for preparation of various kinds of non-classical states, and also to generate universal sets of quantum gates, both on atomic and eld qubits. When the atoms are cooled to very low temperatures, their velocities must be treated quantum mechanically, and we have studied the dynamics of such cases for di erent coupling shapes. Again numerical and analytical approaches have been used and compared, wave-packet propagations of the atom, approaching and traversing the cavity, have been performed. For periodic couplings, standing wave cavity modes, the dynamics has been described by e ective parameters; group velocity or atomic index of refraction and effective mass. Tunneling resonances for ultra cold atoms have been exhibited in the STIRAP models for certain initial conditions.

Approximate Solution to the Driven Jaynes–Cummings Model with Small Detunings

Feng Mang, Fang XiMing, Shi Lei +2 more

The quasienergies and the steady states of a two-level atom coupled to a quantized cavity mode and driven by a classical periodic field are solved in the case that the detunings among the atom, the cavity mode and the field are small. We also constitute two sets of orthonormal wavefunctions based on the steady states we obtained from the system and present a unitary evolution operator. Finally, the specific calculations show that the approximate solution is a useful tool for the further investigation of the properties of the driven Jaynes–Cummings model with small detunings.
