Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics of quantum coherence in the extended X X chain

Shaoying Yin, Shutian Liu, Jie Song +1 more

The Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics of quantum coherence, including single-spin coherence, two-spin coherence, and its distribution (collective and localized coherence), are investigated in the $XX$ spin chain with three-spin interaction. We find that the single-spin and localized coherence do not decrease but increase with time, which makes the dynamic evolution of the two-spin coherence more robust than entanglement and quantum discord. The three-spin interaction can lower the values of quantum coherence in Markovian evolution and heighten the oscillation frequency of quantum coherence in non-Markovian evolution because it can speed up the flow of coherence information. Finally, the trade-off relation between the collective and the localized coherence is clearly shown in their dynamic evolution. Thanks to the coherence trade-off, we find the substitution of localized coherence for collective coherence in dominating the dynamics of the two-spin coherence.

Suppression of spin bath dynamics for improved coherence of multi-spin-qubit systems

Nir Bar‐Gill, Linh Pham, Chinmay Belthangady +6 more

Abstract Multi-qubit systems are crucial for the advancement and application of quantum science. Such systems require maintaining long coherence times while increasing the number of qubits available for coherent manipulation. For solid-state spin systems, qubit coherence is closely related to fundamental questions of many-body spin dynamics. Here we apply a coherent spectroscopic technique to characterize the dynamics of the composite solid-state spin environment of nitrogen-vacancy colour centres in room temperature diamond. We identify a possible new mechanism in diamond for suppression of electronic spin-bath dynamics in the presence of a nuclear spin bath of sufficient concentration. This suppression enhances the efficacy of dynamical decoupling techniques, resulting in increased coherence times for multi-spin-qubit systems, thus paving the way for applications in quantum information, sensing and metrology.

Quantum coherence and correlation dynamics of two-qubit system in spin bath environment*

Hao Yang, Li‐Guo Qin, Li-Jun Tian +1 more

The quantum entanglement, discord, and coherence dynamics of two spins in the model of a spin coupled to a spin bath through an intermediate spin are studied. The effects of the important physical parameters including the coupling strength of two spins, the interaction strength between the intermediate spin and the spin bath, the number of bath spins and the temperature of the system on quantum coherence and correlation dynamics are discussed in different cases. The frozen quantum discord can be observed whereas coherence does not when the initial state is the Bell-diagonal state. At finite temperature, we find that coherence is more robust than quantum discord, which is better than entanglement, in terms of resisting the influence of environment. Therefore, quantum coherence is more tenacious than quantum correlation as an important resource.
