Thermal properties and quantum information theory with the shifted Morse potential

M. E. Udoh, P. O. Amadi, U. S. Okorie +5 more

By employing the Nikiforov–Uvarov functional analysis (NUFA) method, we solved the radial Schrödinger equation with the shifted Morse potential model. The analytical expressions of the energy eigenvalues, eigenfunctions and numerical results were determined for selected values of the potential parameters. Variations of different thermodynamic functions with temperature were discussed extensively. Different quantum information-theoretic measures, including Shannon entropy, Fisher information and Fisher–Shannon product of the shifted Morse potential, were investigated numerically and graphically in position and momentum spaces for the ground and the first excited states. The quantum information theories considered satisfied their corresponding inequalities, including Bialynicki–Birula–Mycielski, Stam–Cramer–Rao inequalities and the Fisher–Shannon product relation.

Interaction of a Two-Level Atom with the Morse Potential in the Framework of Jaynes–Cummings Model

Mohammad Reza Setare, Sh. Barzanjeh

A theoretical study of the dynamical behaviors of the interaction between a two-level atom with a Morse potential in the framework of the Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM) is discussed. We show that this system is equivalent to an intensity-dependent coupling between the two-level atom and the non-deformed single-mode radiation field in the presence of an additional nonlinear interaction. We study the dynamical properties of the system such as, atomic population inversion, the probability distribution of cavity-field, the Mandel parameter and atomic dipole squeezing. It is shown how the depth of the Morse potential can be affected by non-classical properties of the system. Moreover, the temporal evolution of the Husimi-distribution function is explored.

Information-theoretic measures for Morse and Pöschl–Teller potentials

J. S. Dehesa, Andrei Martı́nez-Finkelshtein, Vladimir Nikolaevich Sorokin

The spreading of the quantum-mechanical probability cloud for the ground state of the Morse and modified Pöschl–Teller potentials, which controls the chemical and physical properties of some molecular systems, is studied in position and momentum space by means of global (Shannon's information entropy, variance) and local (Fisher's information) information-theoretic measures. We establish a general relation between variance and Fisher's information, proving that, in the case of a real-valued and symmetric wavefunction, the well-known Cramer–Rao and Heisenberg uncertainty inequalities are equivalent. Finally, we discuss the asymptotics of all three information measures, showing that the ground state of these potentials saturates all the uncertainty relations in an appropriate limit of the parameter.
