Abstract

In the chapter, the main areas of science that will impact the social diffusion of quantum computing are analyzed. The analysis begins by outlining some of the fundamental notions of this new technology and its need to be adapted to the common knowledge of citizens in order to understand its potential from the perspective of communicability and informatics. The educational aspects that must be reformed and/or improved to increase interest in the study of science, and in particular towards this new paradigm of digital and interactive information, are also disclosed. Finally, the results of a heuristic experiment based on science fiction and with users of new technologies belonging to generation Z are disclosed.

Bridging Space and Society: The Significance of Public Outreach of Quantum Communication Technologies

Mariana Filipova, Anton Mladenov, Boyan Jekov +1 more

Abstract Quantum communication technologies are on the verge of a technological development that will change humanity. This paper aims to show the need for quantum technology knowledge outreach among the general public and the necessity of quantum science reaching people in an understandable language. Drawing on global scholarly sources, we explore the differences between classical and quantum physics, classical and quantum computing, and the conventional Internet versus the quantum Internet. Examples from different fields show the need for education and the popularization of quantum technologies. A number of effective methods for teaching youngsters are described, such as infographics, comics, interactive events, storytelling, and personal experiences. This research is based on worldwide scientific sources and an experimental approach, aiming to contribute to a wider understanding of quantum communication technologies based on the contemporary need for their outreach.

Chapter 1 Quantum computing in society: impacts and implications

Yogesh Kumar Sharma, Manoj Wadhwa, Masira M. S. Kulkarni +1 more

Recently, there has been a lot of interest in and funding for quantum computing in the academic and business communities. The “new race to the moon” is no greater task than constructing a workable quantum computer. Since this technology can crack many encryption methods used today, it is of great interest to national authorities, academics, and sellers of future computer technologies. If this technology were to mature, it may have far-reaching and disruptive consequences for our society. However, it is quite probable that many areas of computing will benefit from quantum computing. This chapter lays out our plans for how software-programmable quantum computers might revolutionize scientific computing in the future. This leads us to believe that quantum computers, similar to graphics processing units and coprocessor cards, will be integrated into hybrid-accelerated computing platforms shortly. Specifically, we discuss how quantum algorithms may revolutionize the field of applied mathematics. Lastly, we illustrate the potential societal effect of quantum-accelerated computational science with many cases.

Transformative Impact of Quantum Computing on Social Sciences

Bulent Yavuz

This chapter underscores the pivotal role of quantum computing and its potential to offer insights into revolutionizing research in social sciences and addressing pressing global issues. It explores the digitization of social sciences and abstract fields such as history, sociology, and philosophy, examining societal implications, opportunities, and challenges. Quantum computing offers solutions by leveraging quantum mechanics to process information in new ways. Traditional bit-based computing falls short in handling vast unstructured data. Quantum computing's capabilities are essential for digitizing cognitive processes and achieving near-perfect fidelity in immersive environments. However, it necessitates urgent regulatory measures to prevent uncontrolled development and potential threats. These technologies hold immense potential to address global challenges, enhance cognitive processes, and promote global peace, environmental sustainability, and economic stability.

Quantum Information Theory

Sulekh Kumar, Momita Kundu, Kamla Kumari +1 more

Quantum information theory represents a revolutionary paradigm that merges quantum mechanics with information science, fundamentally transforming our understanding of computation, communication, and information processing. This chapter provides a comprehensive examination of quantum information theory, exploring its theoretical foundations, practical applications, and transformative potential across multiple domains. We investigate the core principles including quantum bits (qubits), superposition, entanglement, and quantum interference, while analyzing their implications for quantum computing, cryptography, and communication protocols. Through systematic literature review and methodological analysis, we present current research trends, breakthrough developments, and emerging applications. The chapter addresses significant challenges including decoherence, error correction, and scalability issues that currently limit practical implementation. Our discussion encompasses quantum algorithms, quantum error correction codes, and the evolving landscape of quantum technologies. We conclude by identifying future research directions and the potential societal impact of quantum information systems, emphasizing both the unprecedented opportunities and the technical obstacles that define this rapidly advancing field.

Quantum Technologies for Digital Transformation and Informatica Security

Jorge Mayhuasca, Santos Sotelo

Over time, technology has approached us in our increasingly present environment, currently depending to carry out activities with the support of technology and without it it is not possible, everything is really systematized. The digital transformation has completely restructured social mutations, such as interactive coexistence in our social environment, we communicate virtual through social networks in real time. The present investigation is oriented to computation and quantum information. At the beginning of the last century, Quantum Computing had research by scientists such as [1,2], their thinking focused on elucidating the proposed dilemma of black body radioactivity. In the last century, [1] ingested all radiant energy, with the purpose of determining the spectral domain of a radiation, through a quantized or discrete path processing. The explorations led [1,2] to inspire the research study of energy, atoms, particles and identifying themselves as precursors of quantum physics and technology, a path that they extended [3,4,5,6,7,8,9].Within quantum technology, information is the quantum equivalent, in the area of traditional information that experiences how to measure, accumulate and transport information. Through the internet system, telephone calls are made, as well as payments through a card, creating and forming data that travels at high speeds in the world close to light.
