Abstract

In this paper, W-SIC, a circuit with self-interference cancellation ability based on Wheatstone bridge is proposed to realize the physical layer absolutely safe communication in wired mode. The communication parties use a coaxial cable to transmit information to each other in different frequency ranges. They send information signals in their respective frequency ranges and release artificial noise signals in each other's frequency range. When the eavesdropper eavesdropping on the coaxial cable, the signals in both frequency ranges have been polluted by artificial noise, the eavesdropper can’t obtain effective signals. However, they can easily eliminate self-interference signals by using W-SIC, receive only the signal sent. Because the two signals are in different frequency ranges, the target information can be easily obtained by filtering, downconversion and other processing by the receiving. Besides W-SIC circuit model, a high-precision sliding rheostat is proposed to more accurately realize Bridge balance inside it, the optimal eavesdropping position of the eavesdropper is analyzed, the channel capacity of legitimate recipients, the formula of self-interference residual factor, the formula of system security capacity and the channel capacity of eavesdroppers are derived. The simulation results show the effectiveness and feasibility of the research method proposed in this paper.

A Wire-Line Secure Communication System Based on CCFD Self-Interference Cancellation

Wenjian Lu, Sanjun Liu, Guohong Lai

This paper presents a design scheme of wire-line telephone system using self-interference (SI) cancellation technology in co-frequency co-time full-duplex (CCFD) system to realize absolute secure communication at the physical layer. This scheme can hide the target signal by skillfully releasing the high-power artificial noise to the whole link at the receiving node, and then make use of the receiver’s knowledge of the SI signal to achieve high dB SI cancellation with the help of analog domain SI cancellation technology in CCFD domain, so that the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) received by the eavesdropper at any position of the link is far lower than that of the legitimate receiver, so as to realize the absolutely secure communication in the sense of Wyner principle. This paper not only puts forward the specific design scheme of absolutely secure communication telephone, but also analyzes the calculation of security capacity under different eavesdropping positions, different SI cancellation capability and different system parameters according to Shannon theory.

A physical layer security scheme for full-duplex communication systems with residual self-interference and non-eavesdropping CSI

Weijia Lei, Yang Zhou, Lin Xiuzhen

We discuss the physical layer security scheme in the Full-Duplex (FD) MIMO point-to-point two-way communication system with residual self-interference, in which legitimate nodes send confidential information and null space Artificial Noise (AN) while receiving information. Because the Channel State Information (CSI) of the eavesdropper is unavailable, we optimize the covariance matrices of the information signal as well as the allocation of the antenna for transmitting and receiving to minimize the signal power consumption under the target rate constraint. As a result, the power of AN is maximized within the limit of total power, so the interception capability of the eavesdropper is suppressed as much as possible. Since self-interference cannot be completely eliminated, the optimization process of one legitimate node depends on the optimization result of the other. By substituting self-interference power in the secrecy rate formula with its average value, the joint optimization process at the two nodes is transformed into two separate and solvable optimization processes. Then, the Water-Filling Algorithm (WFA) and bisection algorithm are used to get the optimal covariance matrices of the signal. Furthermore, we derive the theoretical lower bound of ergodic achievable secrecy rate under rayleigh channels to evaluate the performance of the scheme. The simulation results show that the theoretical derivation is correct, and the actual achievable rate is very close to the target rate, which means that the approximation in the optimization is feasible. The results also show that secrecy transmission can be realized because a considerable secrecy rate can be achieved.

DNN-Powered SIC-Free Receiver Artificial Noise Aided Terahertz Secure Communications With Randomly Distributed Eavesdroppers

Weijun Gao, Chong Zhao Han, Zhi Chen

Despite the narrowbeam nature of Terahertz (THz) communications, the physical layer security in the THz band is challenging when eavesdroppers are inside the beam radiation sector. In this paper, a deep neural network (DNN)-based self-interference cancellation (SIC)-free receiver artificial noise (AN) assisted mechanism is proposed to address the in-beam security challenge, by considering randomly distributed eavesdroppers in THz secure communications. By exploiting the different temporal broadening effects of the AN signals at distinct distances, the SIC can be saved with a proper signal detection design rather than using conventional high-complexity cancellation techniques. To combat the non-linearity and non-convexity of the optimization problem, the system parameters including carrier frequency, power of transmission signal and AN signal power, and frame time are designed by an efficient deep neural network (DNN) algorithm to minimize the secrecy outage probability. Numerical results demonstrate that the maximum secrecy rate of our proposed DNN-powered SIC-free receiver AN scheme is up to 3.3 bps/Hz over 10 m transmission when the eavesdropper is in close proximity. Moreover, the secrecy outage probability is less than 0.5% when the eavesdropper density is 0.001 per square meter, which is approximately 33% lower than that of conventional transmitter AN schemes.

An Absolute Secure Wire-Line Communication Method Against Wiretapper

Sanjun Liu, Meng Ma, Yunzhou Li +2 more

This letter proposes a security method for wire-line point-to-point communication based on the information theory. The proposed system replaces the conventional receiver by a full-duplex node which can, not only, receive the confidential signal, but also deliver artificial noise to impair the channel of wiretapper observation between the two legitimate partners. The power ratio of the signal to the artificial noise is a key factor for guaranteeing absolute secure communication. The theoretical work is carried out in the model of physical layer security on the assumption that the wiretapper can perform the optimum detection, including with colluding structure. Numerical results are presented for demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Artificial noise aided secure communication and its eavesdropping method

Yang Pen

The broadcast nature of wireless network leads to significant challenges to its information security. Recently, artificial noise(AN) is proposed to be injected into the wiretap channel to interfere the eavesdropper for secret communication at the physical-layer. In this paper,we investigate the necessary condition for this AN-aided scheme to ensure communication security, and further propose an effective wiretap algorithm to counteract such a security scheme. When the eavesdropper equips more antennas than the transmitter,it is able to cancel artificial interference and extract the secret information by complex-valued independent component analysis(ICA). Numerical simulation results verify that our proposed algorithm can defeat the AN-aided security scheme and implement eavesdropping effectively.

Safeguarding RFID Wireless Communication Against Proactive Eavesdropping

Zhao Bing-qing, Hui‐Ming Wang, Peng Liu

Passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) communication raises new transmission secrecy protection challenges, since passive tags stored information lack effective information protection mechanisms. Due to constraints of passive tags, such as limited computation and storage capabilities, security solutions based on the physical-layer security (PLS) are promising candidates compared to those based on conventional lightweight cryptography. Unlike existing endeavors on PLS of RFID wireless communication, we consider an RFID system in the presence of a special proactive eavesdropper, which is able to both enhance the information wiretap and interfere with the information detection at the RFID reader simultaneously by broadcasting its own continuous-wave (CW) signal. To defend against proactive eavesdropping attacks, we propose a wiretap-channel-conscious artificial-noise (AN)-aided secure transmission scheme for the RFID reader, which first estimates both legitimate and wiretap channels and then superimposes an AN signal on the CW signal to confuse the proactive eavesdropper. The transmit power and power allocation between the AN signal and the CW signal are optimized to maximize the secrecy rate. Furthermore, we model the attack and defense process between the proactive eavesdropper and the RFID reader as a hierarchical security game and prove it can achieve the equilibrium. The simulation results show the superiority of our proposed scheme in terms of the secrecy rate and the interactions between the RFID reader and the proactive eavesdropper.
