Abstract

In this paper we analyse a pumped quantum dot system placed on nanomechanical resonator. The steady states of the system are analyzed by eliminating the quantum dots variables beyond rotation wave approximation. The mean phonon number and second order correlation functions are obtained. We identify the nonlinear processes as responsible for the peak structure in the mean phonon number and second order correlation functions graphs.

Enhanced vibrational quantum dynamics beyond the rotating wave approximation

Sergiu Carlig, Mihai Macovei

We investigate the vibrational dynamics of a quantum mechanical resonator when an ensemble of laser pumped two-level emitters are fixed on it. Beyond the rotating wave approximation with respect to phonon’s variables, one can obtain an interesting phonon quantum dynamics if the quantum emitter’s variables are faster than those describing the mechanical resonator. Particularly, for certain parameters, one can obtain an enhanced phonon emission as well as larger phonon–phonon correlations in the steady state.

Quantum correlations among optical and vibrational quanta

Sergiu Carlig, Mihai Macovei

We investigate the feasibility of correlating an optical cavity field and a vibrational phonon mode. A laser pumped quantum dot fixed on a nanomechanical resonator beam interacts as a whole with the optical resonator mode. When the quantum dot variables are faster than the optical and phonon ones, we obtain a final master equation describing the involved modes only. Increasing the temperature, which directly affects the vibrational degrees of freedom, one can as well influence the cavity photon intensity, i.e., the optical and phonon modes are correlated. Furthermore, the corresponding Cauchy-Schwarz inequality is violated demonstrating the quantum nature of those correlations.

Entangling an optical cavity and a nanomechanical resonator beam by means of a quantum dot

Xiao-Zhong Yuan

The stationary continuous-variable entanglement between an optical cavity and a nanomechanical resonator beam is generated by their common interaction with a quantum dot. To deal with the quantum dot which is modeled as a two-level system, we do not use the low excitation limit approximation to bosonize the spin operators, but we keep them in the quantum Langevin equations. We linearize the quantum Langevin equations reasonably and investigate the stationary continuous-variable entanglement in detail, and finally we show that a high degree of entanglement can be achieved for experimentally feasible parameters.

Cooling of micromechanical oscillator in a hybrid optomechanical system with three-level quantum dots

Xuebing Gong, Shuchen Lü

Abstract We propose a ground state cooling scheme for an optomechanical resonator based on the system of a V-type three-level QD ensemble trapped in a two-mode cavity. The two-mode cavity was pumped by two different deriving fields. We studied the optomechanical cooling under the highly unresolved-sideband and beyond Lamb-Dicke regime (coupling strength between the cavity field and the phonon field not far less than the vibrational frequency). Our results show that the noise spectrum appeared a single peak when the detuning of the QD’s high excitation state and high-frequency driving field equals that of the QD’s low excitation state and low-frequency driving field, otherwise, then appeared double peaks. In the case of double peaks, we can realize the transition between optomechanical cooling and heating by changing the coupling strength of QD with cavity field, which is not available in the case of a single peak. We also studied the evolution of the mean phonon number with time, which is helpful to analyze ground state optomechanical cooling.

OPTOMECHANICAL SYSTEMS – A BRIDGE BETWEEN NANO- AND MACRO-WORLDS

Sergiu Carlig, Victor Ceban, Mihai A. MACOVEI

In this paper we studied a nanomechanical resonator coupled with a driven quantum dot. The presented analytical results show that the correlation of the photon and phonon modes may be obtained or that quantum cooling phenomena may occur. In addition, the studied acoustical cavities coupled to quantum dots allow the generation of the vibrational phonons with sub-Poissonian distributions. The phonon-photon correlations and fields with sub-Poissonian \nstatistics, both represent pure quantum phenomena.

DYNAMICS OF A TWO-LEVEL SYSTEM BEYOND RWA

Kang Jian-qiang

With the time-dependent perturbation theory, the dynamics of a two-level system coupled to an Bose field is revisited. In this paper, the dynamics of the Cooper-pair box and a nanomechanical resonator system including the counter-rotating terms is considered. The simplest dynamical behavior is given when the oscillator begins in a displaced Fock state and Cooper-pair box(CPB) in,and to a certain extent, the result is the same to that with adiabatic approximation.
