Transformation of coherent state in Hadamard gate via multi-photon catalysis

Abstract

Abstract Based on two-mode continuous Hadamard gate (TCHG) and multi-photon catalysis, this paper presents a scheme to generate non-classical quantum states via coherent state. When considering the m-photon input and m-photon detection in a -mode, the output state is obtained for the input coherent in b -mode. An interesting finding is that as the amplitude of the output coherent state increases, both the detection efficiency and the fidelity of the output quantum state gradually approach zero. Thus, only certain low-intensity quantum light field states can pass through Hadamard gate. In addition, the quantum statistical distribution and squeezing properties of the output quantum states are also analyzed in detail. Our results show that TCHG is a powerful tool for generating non-classical quantum states under multi-photon catalysis.

Multiphoton catalysis on non-gaussian photon-added and subtracted pair coherent states

Anjali Jatwani, Amit Verma

Abstract Recently, it was reported that Quantum optical catalysis is a method capable of transforming Gaussian/non-Gaussian input states into non-Gaussian states without changing the photon number of the original state in Int. J. Theor. Phys. 62, 41 (2023). They have shown enhancement in non-Gaussianity after applying photon catalysis over a pair coherent state. Here in this work, we investigate the multi photon-catalysis phenomenon in a photon-added (in one mode) and photon-subtracted (in another mode) pair coherent state. The entanglement and non-Gaussian properties of the generated state multiphoton catalytic photon-added-and-subtracted pair coherent state (MC-PASPCS) are analyzed using linear entropy, logarithmic negativity, and a quantitative measure of non-Gaussianity. Furthermore, the usefulness of the proposed state as a quantum resource is examined through continuous-variable quantum teleportation fidelity. Our results show that the combined effect of photon addition/subtraction and multiphoton catalysis significantly enhances entanglement, non-Gaussianity, and teleportation performance in suitable parameter regimes compared with the original pair coherent state. The findings demonstrate that said states provides a controllable platform for generating highly non-Gaussian entangled states with potential applications in quantum information processing.

Entanglement improvement of entangled coherent state via multiphoton catalysis

Weidong Zhou, Wei Ye, Cunjin Liu +2 more

Abstract Based on the conditional measurement and beam splitters, multi-photon catalysis is introduced to each mode of even entangled coherent states (EECSs). The resulted states belong to a kind of Laguerre polynomials excited EECSs. Then the entanglement properties of resulted state are examined according to EPR correlation, concurrence and the teleportation fidelity. For the symmetrical beam splitters, these three quantities can be improved by multi-photon catalysis (⩾3) and only EPR correlation can be enhanced by zero-photon catalysis. Our optimal results over transmissivities of beam splitters show that the unit concurrence can be achieved for all non-zero photon catalysis which indicates that the optimized output approaches Bell-type state. In addition, two single-photon catalysis and zero-photon catalysis present better performance for the improvement of both the EPR correlation and the teleportation fidelity in small and large amplitude regions, respectively. Particularly, it is interesting to notice that both of them can be optimized to be constant for zero-photon catalysis when the amplitude exceeds a certain threshold.

Photon catalysis and quantum state engineering

Richard J. Birrittella, M. El Baz, Christopher C. Gerry

Photon catalysis is a technique by which a readily available Gaussian state of light prepared in one mode is incident upon a beam splitter with a discrete number of photons, q, prepared in another mode; the resulting two-mode state is then subjected to single-photon resolving detection for q photons on one of the output modes. By employing beam splitters of different transmissivities and reflectivities, the subsequent single-mode state is shown to possess nonclassical properties such as quadrature squeezing and sub-Poissonian statistics. We consider the case in which the input state is the most general of pure single-mode Gaussian states: a squeezed coherent state. Noting the Gaussianity of the initial state, we demonstrate non-Gaussianity of the photon-catalyzed state by analyzing the quadrature uncertainty product and explicitly illustrate it through the Wigner quasi-probability distribution. We extend this technique to the two-mode squeezed states, whereby we perform photon catalysis on one mode of a two-mode squeezed vacuum state. The resulting correlated two-mode state may have applications in fundamental tests of quantum mechanics, such as violations of Bell’s inequalities, as the detection loophole can be closed due to the non-Gaussianity of the photon-catalyzed state. We also generalize our method to include state projective measurements for l≠q photons.

Non-Gaussian quantum states generated via quantum catalysis and their statistical properties

Xiao-Yan 晓燕 Zhang 张, Chun-Yan 春燕 Yang 杨, Ji-Suo 继锁 Wang 王 +1 more

A new kind of non-Gaussian quantum catalyzed state is proposed via multiphoton measurements and two-mode squeezing as an input of thermal state. The characteristics of the generated multiphoton catalysis output state depends on the thermal parameter, catalyzed photon number and squeezing parameter. We then analyze the nonclassical properties by examining the photon number distribution, photocount distribution and partial negativity of the Wigner function. Our findings indicate that nonclassicality can be achieved through the implementation of multiphoton catalysis operations and modulated by the thermal parameter, catalyzed photon number and squeezing parameter.

Applications of quantum Fourier transform in photon-added coherent state

Gang Ren, Jian-ming Du, Hai-jun Yu

Quantum Fourier transform is realized by the Hadamard gate in a quantum computer, which can also be considered as a Hadamard transform. We introduce the Hadamard transformed photon-added coherent state (HTPACS), which is obtained by letting the photon-added coherent state (PACS) across the quantum Hadamard gate, from this result. It is found that the HTPACS can be considered as a coordinate—momentum mutual exchanging followed by a squeezing transform of the PACS. In addition, the non-classical statistical properties of HTPACS, such as squeezing coefficient, Mandel parameter, etc., are also discussed.

Multiphoton catalysis with coherent state input: nonclassicality and decoherence

Liyun Hu, Jia-Ni Wu, Zeyang Liao +1 more

Abstract We propose a scheme to generate a new kind of non-Gaussian state—the Laguerre polynomial excited coherent state (LPECS)—by using multiphoton catalysis with coherent state input. The nonclassical properties of the LPECS are studied in terms of nonclassical depth, Mandel’s parameter, second-order correlation, quadrature squeezing, and the negativity of the Wigner function (WF). It is found that the LPECS is highly nonclassical and its nonclassicality depends on the amplitude of the coherent state, the catalysis photon number, and the parameters of the unbalanced beam splitter (BS). In particular, the maximum degree of squeezing can be enhanced by increasing the catalysis photon number. In addition, we examine the effect of decoherence using the WF, which shows that the negative region, the characteristic time of decoherence, and the structure of the WF are affected by catalysis photon number and the parameters of the unbalanced BS. Our work provides general analysis on how to prepare polynomial quantum states, which may be useful in the fields of quantum information and quantum computation.
