Generation of octapartite entanglement by connecting two symmetric cascaded four-wave mixing processes with one linear beam splitter

Shengkai Yu, Huanzhang Liu, Jietai Jing

We theoretically propose a scheme for generating full octapartite entanglement using two symmetric cascaded four-wave mixing (FWM) processes and one linear beam splitter (BS), in which two independent symmetric cascaded FWM processes are connected by a BS. To present the entanglement properties of the system, we first verify that the generated state is a H -graph state by exploiting the graphical calculus for Gaussian pure states, and reveal the internal interaction of the generated state by using the derived coupling strength matrix. We proceed with investigating the possibility of this scheme for generating octapartite entanglement by applying the positivity under a partial transposition criterion. The results show that there exists full octapartite entanglement in the whole gain region, and the degree of entanglement increases as the power gain increases. In addition, we investigate the effect of transmissivity of BS on the entanglement properties of the system and the dependence of bipartite entanglement on the power gain and the transmissivity of BS. Our results give a simple way to increase the scale of entanglement by linear optics and cascaded FWM processes.

Bright six-partite continuous variable entanglement using cascaded four-wave mixing processes in a four-level atomic system

Guangqiang He, Xuefei Wu, Yi Gu

We theoretically show that bright six-partite continuous-variable entanglement can be generated using cascaded four-wave mixing effects of third-order nonlinearity atomic systems above threshold. The six-partite continuous-variable entanglement among the six cavity fields with different frequencies is analyzed by applying optimized inseparability criteria proposed by Van Loock and Furusawa.

Entangled photon generation using four-wave mixing in azimuthally symmetric microresonators

Ryan M. Camacho

A novel quantum mechanical formulation of the bi-photon wavefunction and spectra resulting from four-wave mixing is developed for azimuthally symmetric systems. Numerical calculations are performed verifying the use of the angular group velocity and angular group velocity dispersion in such systems, as opposed their commonly used linear counterparts. The dispersion profile and bi-photon spectra of two illustrative examples are given, emphasizing the physical origin of the effects leading to the conditions for angular momentum and energy conservation. A scheme is proposed in which widely spaced narrowband entangled photons may be produced through a four-wave mixing process in a chip-scale ring resonator. The entangled photon pairs are found to conserve energy and momentum in the four-wave mixing interaction, even though both photon modes lie in spectral regions of steep angular group velocity dispersion.
