Multiphoton effects with bright squeezed vacuum

Light generated through strongly pumped parametric down-conversion has extremely strong photon-number fluctuations and is therefore highly efficient for multiphoton effects. In addition, its spectral and spatial properties can be tailored to allow two-dimensional multiphoton spectroscopy.

Towards high intensity bright squeezed vacuum sources for applications in ultrafast photoelectron metrology

Benjamin Scheuer

In the field of attosecond science, photoelectron spectroscopy and interferometry stand as a central topic not only for its ability to characterise attosecond pulses but also for its ability to make time resolved measurements of electron dynamics. This feature allows for its application across the many fields which depend on the behaviour of electrons. For these reasons, there is significant interest in improving these techniques. One such candidate is the implementation of quantum light states to replace the typical coherent light used for interferometry. In the past, this was not possible due to the weakness of quantum light sources. However, recent development has shown that high intensity bright squeezed vacuum sources are possible and can be made to have high enough intensities in order to drive nonlinear processes, which allows for possibilities within attosecond science. For this work, we will begin developing and characterising an intense bright squeezed vacuum source to be used for applications in photoelectron metrology.

Engineering of spectral and spatial properties of bright squeezed-vacuum states of light

Olga V. Tikhonova, Polina R. Sharapova, Maria V. Chekhova +2 more

Squeezed states of light are referred to as non-classical field states and are known to be characterized by strong correlations between photons both in the spectral and spatial domain. For these reasons they are very perspective for many important and interesting practical applications in modern quantum optics including storage and transfer of quantum information. From this point of view multiphoton or bright squeezed vacuum states of light generated during stimulated parametric down conversion process with intensive pump seem to be the most attractive.
