Abstract

In general, signal(s) travel form Transmitting Node (Tx) to the Receiving Node (Rx), as most of us knows. What if two signals (One Signal from Tx and other Signal form Rx ) interact in the Free-Space and exchange the information in free space rather than processing the information at the systems ends. This generally reduces the complexity of present day systems. As the information is exchanged and/or communicated between signals in space(Free Space). System resources can be used for other purpose, such as to analyze the information and to increase its graphical interface. In-fact space signal communication would greatly increases the speed of communication. About 20% - 30% of time is saved in exchanging/processing the information between two nodes when compared with the existing system.

Interaction-free measurements based communication scheme for long-haul data transfer

A communication scheme based on interaction-free measurements is proposed here, that is applicable for long-haul communications. It is shown that the scheme allows the transmitter to transfer real information at the receiver end in a finite amount of time, which is independent of their distance of separation. Now, as the distance of separation increases, effective speed of information transfer increases due to the constant receive-after-time delay. Hence, this communication technique is faster than the conventional way of information transfer at a speed of light, for communications over long distances.

Learning-Based Route Selection in Noisy Quantum Communication Networks

Finding a path with the least overall noise from quantum memories, fibers, and gate operations in a quantum network involves the challenge of acquiring knowledge of these noises, their sources, and the time of occurrences. In this paper, we propose a reinforcement learning-based route selection approach that uses a multi-arm bandit algorithm to find the least noisy path from a transmitter (Tx) to a receiver (Rx), without considering any information on qubit decoherence due to probabilistic noises inherent in quantum memories and imperfect gate operations. It only uses network deployment knowledge to find a set of feasible paths from Tx to Rx. We provide a key finding from a network design perspective which says that performing entanglement swapping on nodes within a path in a non-synchronized and parallel manner not always reduces the decoherence experienced in achieving the end-to-end entanglement on that path. Further, we design and open-source a new simulator for simulating probabilistic noises encountered during entanglement distribution between Tx-Rx on a path, which has supporting callable functions for connecting the unknown network environment required for interaction with the multi-arm bandit agent. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed route selection approach provides a path up to ~ 33% better fidelity (less noise) compared to conventional, distance-based route selection approach for the considered quantum network.

Quantum communications in space

Coding data bits in the phase or polarization state of light allows us to exploit the wave particle duality for novel communication protocols. Using this principle the first practical quantum communication systems have been built. These are the fiber and free-space quantum cryptography apparatus used for secure exchange of keys. Beyond this state of the art, various quantum communication schemes are being studied including entangled state key exchange quantum dense coding, state teleportation, and entanglement swapping. The feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of space based realisations of these novel schemes are discussed.

Exploiting Full-Duplex Receivers for Achieving Secret Communications in Multiuser MISO Networks

We consider a broadcast channel in which a multi-antenna transmitter (Alice) sends K confidential information signals to K legitimate users (Bobs) in the presence of L eavesdroppers (Eves). Alice uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) precoding to generate the information signals along with her own (Tx-based) friendly jamming (FJ). Interference at each Bob is removed by MIMO zero-forcing. This, however, leaves a “vulnerability region” around each Bob, which can be exploited by a nearby Eve. We address this problem by augmenting Tx-based FJ (TxFJ) with Rx-based FJ (RxFJ), generated by each Bob. Specifically, each Bob uses self-interference suppression to transmit a friendly jamming signal, while simultaneously receiving an information signal over the same channel. We minimize the powers allocated to the information, TxFJ, and RxFJ signals under given guarantees on the individual secrecy rate for each Bob. The problem is solved for the cases when the eavesdropper's channel state information is known/unknown. Simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed solution. Furthermore, we discuss how to schedule transmissions when the rate requirements need to be satisfied on average rather than instantaneously. Under special cases, a scheduling algorithm that serves only the strongest receivers is shown to outperform the one that schedules all receivers.
