Data Encryption Device Using Radioactive Decay and a Hybrid Quantum Encryption Algorithm

Anthony B. Kunkel, Paidi Karthik, Guster Dennis +1 more

Quantum computers are the future in computing as data encoded in modern computers is limited by the space to store it. Quantum computers encode data in atoms that don’t follow classical physics but rather quantum physics. Quantum physics provide an advantage in computing, as it allows data to be processed exponentially faster. However, the increase in computing speeds of such magnitude poses a potential risk to modern day encryption standards. Thus, to protect the transfer of data one must look towards developing innovative ways of encryption that shield it from the speed of quantum computers. This paper discusses a method to secure data by using radioactive decay in conjunction with an encryption algorithm. The main purpose of this paper is to develop and implement an encryption device that can be interfaced with a computer system. The device then utilizes the randomness of radioactive decay as a seed used in the encryption algorithm.

Diagnosis of Weaknesses in Modern Error Correction Codes: A Physics Approach

М. Г. Степанов, Vladimir Chernyak, Michael Chertkov +1 more

One of the main obstacles to the wider use of the modern error-correction codes is that, due to the complex behavior of their decoding algorithms, no systematic method which would allow characterization of the bit-error-rate (BER) is known. This is especially true at the weak noise where many systems operate and where coding performance is difficult to estimate because of the diminishingly small number of errors. We show how the instanton method of physics allows one to solve the problem of BER analysis in the weak noise range by recasting it as a computationally tractable minimization problem.

Generalized classification of modern quantum cryptography and communication methods

Тетяна Олександрівна Жмурко, Василь Миколайович Кінзерявий, Khalicha Ibragimovna Yubuzova +1 more

Modern powerful computing technology development threatens the confidentiality of information that usually provided by traditional cryptographic means and forces researchers to look for alternative security methods. Given the current trends, these alternatives may be quantum cryptography and communication methods. These methods unlike traditional (classical) analogues use specific unique properties of quantum particles and are based on the inviolability of the quantum physics laws. Existing classifications in quantum cryptography and communications do not include the large number of modern methods. It complicates its study and use in the quantum information security systems development. In the paper modern methods of quantum cryptography and communication were analyzed, their advantages and disadvantages, security assessment to various kinds of cyberattacks were defined, and also the existing classifications of these methods were studied. On the basis of partial generalizations of theoretical positions and practical advances in quantum cryptography, the generalized classification of quantum cryptography and communication methods was constructed. This classification reveals a problem in this area and can extend the possibilities for choosing the appropriate methods for modern quantum information security systems development.
