Schrödinger–Koopman quasienergy states of quantum systems driven by classical flow

David Viennot, Lucile Aubourg

Abstract We study the properties of the quasienergy states of a quantum system driven by a classical dynamical system. The quasienergies are defined in the same manner as in light-matter interaction but where the Floquet approach is generalized by the use of the Koopman approach of dynamical systems. We show how the properties of the classical flow (fixed and cyclic points, ergodicity, chaos) influence the driven quantum system. This approach of Schrödinger–Koopman quasienergies can be applied to quantum control, quantum information in presence of noises, and dynamics of mixed classical-quantum systems. We treat the example of a kicked spin ensemble where the kick modulation is governed by discrete classical flows as the Arnold’s cat map and the Chirikov standard map.

Trace formula for interacting spins

Daniel Waltner, Petr A. Braun, Maram Akila +1 more

Abstract While detailed information about the semiclassics for single-particle systems is available, much less is known about the connection between quantum and classical dynamics for many-body systems. As an example, we focus on interacting spins, which are of considerable conceptual and practical importance. We derive a trace formula for coupled spin j particles which relates the quantum energy levels to the classical dynamics. Our derivation is valid in the limit j → ∞ with j ħ = c o n s t . and applies to time-continuous as well as to periodically driven dynamics. We provide a simple explanation why the Solari–Kochetov phase can be omitted if the correct classical Hamiltonian is chosen.

Joint quantum estimation of loss and nonlinearity in driven-dissipative Kerr resonators

Muhammad Asjad, Berihu Teklu, Matteo G. A. Paris

We address multiparameter quantum estimation for coherently driven nonlinear Kerr resonators in the presence of loss. In particular, we consider the realistic situation in which the parameters of interest are the loss rate and the nonlinear coupling, whereas the amplitude of the coherent driving is known and externally tunable. Our results show that this driven-dissipative model is asymptotically classical, i.e., the Uhlmann curvature vanishes, and the two parameters may be jointly estimated without any additional noise of quantum origin. We also find that the ultimate bound to precision, as quantified by the quantum Fisher information (QFI), increases with the interaction time and the driving amplitude for both parameters. Finally, we investigate the performance of quadrature detection, and show that for both parameters the Fisher information oscillates in time, repeatedly approaching the corresponding QFI.
