Cyclic Mechanics: the Principle of Cyclicity

Abstract

Cyclic mechanic is intended as a suitable generalization both of quantum mechanics and general relativity apt to unify them. It is founded on a few principles, which can be enumerated approximately as follows:1. Actual infinity or the universe can be considered as a physical and experimentally verifiable entity. It allows of mechanical motion to exist.2. A new law of conservation has to be involved to generalize and comprise the separate laws of conservation of classical and relativistic mechanics, and especially that of conservation of energy: This is the conservation of action or information.3. Time is not a uniformly flowing time in general. It can have some speed, acceleration, more than one dimension, to be discrete.4. The following principle of cyclicity: The universe returns in any point of it. The return can be only kinematic, i.e. per a unit of energy (or mass), and thermodynamic, i.e. considering the universe as a thermodynamic whole.5. The kinematic return, which is per a unit of energy (or mass), is the counterpart of conservation of energy, which can be interpreted as the particular case of conservation of action “per a unit of time”. The kinematic return per a unit of energy (or mass) can be interpreted in turn as another particular law of conservation in the framework of conservation of action (or information), namely conservation of wave period (or time). These two counterpart laws of conservation correspond exactly to the particle “half” and to the wave “half” of wave-particle duality.6. The principle of quantum invariance is introduced. It means that all physical laws have to be invariant to discrete and continuous (smooth) morphisms (motions) or mathematically, to the axiom of choice. The list is not intended to be exhausted or disjunctive, but only to give an introductory idea.

The Conservation of Action

Ashley Craig

This short note proposes that the conserved substance of physics is action, not energy. Energy conservation is, by Noether's theorem, the exact statement of a uniform flow of time — an assumption that fails, even if only slightly, in a relativistic universe where clocks run at different rates in different places. Read the other way, Planck's relation becomes a conservation law rather than an empirical input: Eτ = h, one quantum of action processed per cycle of a local resonance, with ordinary energy conservation recovered as the special case in which the period τ is held fixed. The note carries exactly one assumption beyond the algebra, stated plainly rather than smuggled in: the vacuum is a medium of such resonances, and a particle is a persistent, self-closing cycle within it. Angle and capacity The invariant has two faces. The law pins the magnitude at h — the capacity — leaving the accumulated phase φ as the only freedom: dS = ℏ dφ. Every familiar conjugate pair is this one statement read along a different axis of advance — energy against time, momentum against position, angular momentum against orientation — three orthogonal accounts of one accumulating phase, each closing one unit of capacity per cycle: Eτ = h, pλ = h, L·2π = h. This split is where classical and quantum mechanics part ways. An open trajectory reads the phase continuously, and its stationary-phase condition is the principle of least action; a closed resonance can only count whole turns, and closure quantises. Quantisation is a property of closure, not a property of the phase — the boundary between classical and quantum is a change of topology, not a change of law. What follows mechanically From the capacity law alone, with no further postulate, three familiar structures are recovered. A resonance at rest turns at the Compton frequency ωC = mc²/ℏ, so that one full turn spends exactly one quantum, EτC = h: mass is nothing but a resonance's cycling rate. Driven through the medium, a resonance meets an increased flux that scales as the Lorentz factor; conserving its fixed action budget under that load forces its geometry to yield — contraction along the direction of motion, dilation of its internal period — recovering special relativity as mechanical equilibration rather than a postulate about coordinates, with no rest frame ever exposed because the same yielding that would reveal one also defines the observer's own rulers and clocks. Requiring the accumulated phase along a worldline to stay coherent, expanded in the weak-field limit, returns the classical Lagrangian directly, −Mc²dτ = (T − V − Mc²)dt: least action is not minimised as a primitive rule, it is what capacity conservation looks like when a resonance crosses a gradient of the medium. And the Heisenberg relation σxσp ≥ ℏ/2 is read as the ordinary bandwidth (Gabor) theorem for a wave and its Fourier transform — a floor on occupancy for a phase-locked resonance, not a ceiling on knowledge. Gravity, without a graviton The most interpretive claim in the note, flagged as such throughout: if the metric's invariant is Eτ = h rather than a fixed energy, the metric carries no absolute clock, and the phase-lock condition forces its temporal and spatial responses to be reciprocal, giving the bipolar exponential line element ds² = −e−2ξc²dt² + e+2ξdx². The conceptual point is what this reframes: the decades-long search for a quantum theory of gravity has sought a graviton by quantising the metric on a fixed background, when gravity is the background. On this reading there is no separate field to quantise — the medium's deformation is already quantised at h per cycle, and gravity is simply the shape of phase accumulation across its gradient. The problem is not solved so much as dissolved: relocated from “how do we quantise the metric” to “the metric was never a separate thing to quantise.” Scope The note is deliberately bounded, and says so explicitly rather than leaving the boundary implicit. It derives special relativity, the principle of least action, and the bandwidth reading of the uncertainty relation from the capacity law alone; it advances the gravitational reading as a stance to be tested against its consequences, not a completed theory. It does not derive the particle spectrum, specific masses, electric charge, colour, or the numerical values of G or α, and makes no cosmological claim. This separation is intentional: a conservation principle should be judged on its own terms. A companion note reports a closed-form numerical identity for the proton mass as a separate, independent empirical fact; the two are meant to be read, and to stand or fall, apart.

Introduction to the Quantum Theory of Elementary Cycles

Donatello Dolce B

Elementary Cycles Theory is a self-consistent, unified formulation of quantum and relativistic physics. Here we introduce its basic quantum aspects. On one hand, Newton's law of inertia states that every isolated particle has persistent motion, i.e. constant energy and momentum. On the other hand, the wave-particle duality associates a space-time recurrence to the elementary particle energy-momentum. Paraphrasing these two fundamental principles, Elementary Cycles Theory postulates that every isolated elementary constituent of nature (every elementary particle) must be characterized by persistent intrinsic space-time periodicity. Elementary particles are the elementary reference clocks of Nature. The space-time periodicity is determined by the kinematical state (energy and momentum), so that interactions imply modulations, and every system is decomposable in terms of modulated elementary cycles. Undulatory mechanics is imposed as constraint "overdetermining" relativistic mechanics, similarly to Einstein's proposal of unification. Surprisingly this mathematically proves that the unification of quantum and relativistic physics is fully achieved by imposing an intrinsically cyclic (or compact) nature for relativistic space-time coordinates. In particular the Minkowskian time must be cyclic. The resulting classical mechanics are in fact fully consistent with relativity and reproduces all the fundamental aspects of quantum-relativistic mechanics without explicit quantization. This "overdetermination" just enforces both the local nature of relativistic space-time and the wave-particle duality. It also implies a fully geometrodynamical formulation of gauge interactions which, similarly to gravity and general relativity, is inferred as modulations of the elementary space-time clocks. This brings novel elements to address most of the fundamental open problems of modern physics.

The Conservation Laws in Quantum Mechanics

Richard Joseph Oldani

It is often claimed that Einstein is wrong about quantum mechanics. However, when comparisons are made with respect to theoretical foundations rather than experimental results Einstein’s theories are found to be superior. Although quantum mechanics correctly predicts what it is possible to observe (the emissions) with remarkable accuracy it ignores the other half of natural phenomena, that which cannot be observed (the absorptions), thereby violating the conservation of energy. Similarly, the conservation of momentum is violated by disregarding unobservable molecular impulses. Despite irrefutable proof that molecular impulses transfer momentum asymmetrically as shown by Einstein’s derivation of the A and B coefficients, the wave function is assumed to apply symmetrically in time. The deficiencies are corrected by introducing Hamilton’s principle and deriving relativistic equations of motion. This allows non-relativistic quantum mechanics to be described with a physical model and wave function behavior to be interpreted as the combined action of a particle and its associated quantized field. The calculus of variations is applied to the wave function to show that it is an incomplete equation of motion because it yields twice the allowable action minimum. The concept of reality is redefined by showing that reductionism applies to classical phenomena, but not quantum phenomena.

All the physical world as mathematical: Physical entity as quantum information

Vasil Dinev Penchev

Quantum mechanics was reformulated as an information theory involving a generalized kind of information, namely quantum information, in the end of the last century. Quantum mechanics is the most fundamental physical theory referring to all claiming to be physical. Any physical entity turns out to be quantum information in the final analysis. A quantum bit is the unit of quantum information, and it is a generalization of the unit of classical information, a bit, as well as the quantum information itself is a generalization of classical information. Classical information refers to finite series or sets while quantum information, to infinite ones. Quantum information as well as classical information is a dimensionless quantity. Quantum information can be considered as a “bridge” between the mathematical and physical. The standard and common scientific epistemology grants the gap between the mathematical models and physical reality. The conception of truth as adequacy is what is able to transfer “over” that gap. One should explain how quantum information being a continuous transition between the physical and mathematical may refer to truth as adequacy and thus to the usual scientific epistemology and methodology. If it is the overall substance of anything claiming to be physical, one can question how different and dimensional physical quantities appear. Quantum information can be discussed as the counterpart of action. Quantum information is what is conserved, action is what is changed in virtue of the fundamental theorems of Emmy Noether (1918). The gap between mathematical models and physical reality, needing truth as adequacy to be overcome, is substituted by the openness of choice. That openness in turn can be interpreted as the openness of the present as a different concept of truth recollecting Heidegger’s one as “unconcealment” (ἀλήθεια). Quantum information as what is conserved can be thought as the conservation of that openness

On Principles of Quantum Mechanics

Simultaneously indicate: In the universe there exists the ordering- and disordering-energy matter, together known as matter. Existing the absolute space and absolute time. The absolute space-time is continuous. Matter and the absolute space-time together create and compose the objective world. The objective world is a harmonious and unified whole. Physical laws are completely unified. The objective world and matter are all finite. Matter exists, evolves and moves in the absolute space-time. Interactions are the most essential and most root basic attribute of matter. The interaction among matter is the mass-space interaction. The mass-space interaction is continuous and stable, is not random and intermittent. Macroscopic and microscopic regions all observe the identical physical laws. Elementary particles and they compose the microscopic mass-energy systems are all the ordering-energy matter, their mass-energy space-time is a interdependent whole, their feature, state, structure and motion laws are all entirely determined by the mass-space interaction, correspond with the determinism and causality, the motion state and feature, motion orbitals, position and speed of particles in the absolute space-time are all absolutely determined and could be measured exactly, their quantum states could be approximately described by the wave function of quantum mechanics. The wave functions are the simplified mathematical function approximate expression of quantum system states of adopted interaction, can be used to calculate the correlative physical quantities. The wave functions could approximately describe the state of the mass-energy space-time whole of a microscopic mass-energy system with the mass-space interaction acting and continuously moving. An eigenstate just is the state making the system energy minimum and in rather stable existence. Scientific theories are the abstract simplified approximate expression for the essential of natural phenomena. Physical theory is the abstract simplified approximate representation for the matter structure and its motion laws. Whereas the mathematical formulation then is the further simplified approximate representation for physical contents. All of theories, include quantum mechanics and relativity, only when the assumed approximate condition is satisfied, just are the applied correct scientific theory, could describe the objective world good enough but not exactly. Develop scientific theory, correctly cognize and reasonably interpret the objective world, without the end.
