Lattice atom optics and its applications

Yin Jian-Ping

The recent development of lattice atom optics is introduced, including atomic optical lattices, atomic magnetic lattices and magneto-optical lattices, and some new results of atomic magnetic lattices and magneto-optical lattices, and some new results on the investigations of magnetic and magneto-optical lattices are reported. Afterwards, some recent progresses of dynamic process of cold atoms and Bose-Einstein-condensed atoms in optical lattices, and coherent propagation and control of quantum states are briefly reviewed. Finally, potential applications of atomic optical lattices, atomic magnetic lattices and magneto-optical lattices in the preparation of photonic crystals and so on are briefly introduced.

Talbot effects induced by gain-loss modulated optical lattices in a coherent atomic medium

Jingliang Feng, Zhaoyang Zhang, Min Xiao

We investigate the electromagnetically induced Talbot effects resulting from the gain-loss modulated optical lattices constructed in a coherent four-level $N$-type atomic system. Both integer and fractional Talbot effects are studied in a parity-time ($\mathcal{PT}$) symmetric optical lattice, quasi-$\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric optical lattices, and a conventional electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) optical lattice. Additionally, the visibilities of Talbot images from a $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric optical lattice, quasi-$\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric optical lattices, and a conventional EIT optical lattice are examined. This study provides insights for understanding the Talbot effects in experiments based on coherent atomic systems with gain and loss properties.

Frequency Comparison between Optical Lattice Clocks

Hidetoshi Katori, Masao Takamoto, Tomoya Akatsuka +1 more

Two "optical lattice clocks", which based on spin-polarized fermionic87Sr trapped in a one-dimensional optical lattice and on bosonic88Sr in a three-dimensional lattice, were operated simultaneously. From a beat note between the two optical clocks, stability as well as accuracy of "optical lattice clocks" was evaluated.

We investigate the electromagnetically induced Talbot effects resulting from the gain-loss modulated optical lattices constructed in a coherent four-level NNN-type atomic system. Both integer and fractional Talbot effects are studied in a parity-time (PT\mathcal{PT}PT) symmetric optical lattice, quasi-PT\mathcal{PT}PT-symmetric optical lattices, and a conventional electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) optical lattice.
