We study the formation of solitons in a uniform quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) spin-orbit (SO) coupled self-repulsive pseudo spin-half and spin-one dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC), using the mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The dipolar atoms are taken to be polarized along the quasi-1D
x direction. In the pseudo spin-half case, for small SO-coupling, one can have dark-bright and bright-bright solitons. For large SO coupling, the dark-bright and bright-bright solitons may acquire a spatially-periodic modulation in density; for certain values of contact interaction paramerers there is only the normal bright-bright soliton without spatially-periodic modulation in density. In the spin-one anti-ferromagnetic case, for small SO coupling, one can have bright-bright-bright, dark-bright-dark, and bright-dark-bright solitons; and for large SO coupling, the dark-bright-dark and bright-dark-bright solitons are found to have spatially-periodic modulation in density. In the spin-one ferromagnetic case, for both small and large SO coupling, we find only bright-bright-bright solitons. All these solitons, specially those with a dark-soliton component, are dynamically stable as demonstrated by real-time propagation using the converged stationary solution obtained by imaginary-time propagation as the initial state.
Abstract The coherent manipulation and control of bright and dark solitons through sodium atomic medium have been investigated in this manuscript. Dark soliton is reported for reflection and bright soliton is reported for transmission pulses with variation in position and driving field parameters through sodium atomic medium. Further the transmission pulse is periodic dark and bright solitonic behaviors and reflection pulse is periodic bright solitonic behavior with variation in the incident angle and Rabi frequency of the control field. Elliptical dark and bright solitons as well as breather types solitons are also investigated for reflection and transmission pulses. The dark soliton in reflection is due to slow light propagation and bright soliton is obtained due to fast light propagation of transmission through the medium. The modified results of the dark and bright solitons are useful for telecommunication and ultra-fast signal routing system.
Abstract We investigate oscillatory soliton pairs including the bright–bright solitons, dark–dark solitons, bright–dark solitons and beating solitons (beating soliton refers to a type of soliton characterized by components that are each composed of both bright and dark solitons, and the overall density is equivalent to that of a single soliton) in the spin-orbit coupled spin-1/2 Bose–Einstein condensates. Two important effects that are the spin orbit coupling (SOC) and Raman detuning resonance on these solitons are studied. The results show that the intensity of SOC affects the spatial oscillation of solitons, while Raman detuning resonance affects the temporal oscillation of solitons. Moreover, the oscillatory soliton pairs and their background are affected by gain/loss. Under different gain/loss modulator, the periodic, parabolic, dromion type and line solitons are constructed for bright–bright pairs, and the periodic and parabolic background planes are presented for dark–dark soliton pairs, as well as the bound state solitons on periodic and kink type background planes are obtained for bright–dark soliton pairs. For one-beating soliton pairs, two types of beating solitons including the petal and breather-like are discovered by adjusting the wave number. For two-beating soliton pairs, the interaction between different combinations of the two types of beating solitons mentioned above, especially the X- and Y-type beating solitons, are presented by controlling two wave numbers. Furthermore, we verify the stability of soliton pairs through numerical simulation and the physics-informed neural network methods.
