Physics of the non-analytic exponential potentials

Giorgi Grigolia

The following work aimed to study 1-dimensional potentials which involve the absolute value of coordinate as an argument. Motivation for the following may come from several different cases. Among them is Randal-Sudrum model. I described several ways how non-analytic function might be regularized and deduce its mathematical form. The problem is discussed in the classical case of absolute-value potential and the quantum mechanical case of exponential potential.

Three one-dimensional quantum particles scattering problem with short-range repulsive pair potentials. To the question of absolutely continuous spectrum eigenfunctions asymptotics justification

Alexander Mikhajlovich Budylin, Сергей Борисович Левин

We consider the quantum scattering problem of three one-dimensional particles with repulsive shortrange pair potentials. For clarity, we restrict ourself by the case of finite pair potentials. The absence of singular continuous spectrum of the corresponding Schröedinger operator for a broad class of pair potentials was proved earlier in a known work of E. Mourre. Nevertheless, the Mourre techniques do not allow description of the asymptotics of absolutely continuous spectrum eigenfunctions. In this work, regardless of Mourre results, we prove the existence of the resolvent limit values on absolutely continuous spectrum and construct them explicitly. It allows us, following the known procedure, to derive the absolutely continuous spectrum eigen-functions asymptotics, suggested earlier in works of V. S. Buslaev and his co-authors. Our approach, close to the foundational work of L. D. Faddeev devoted to three-dimensional particles, specifically uses the ideas of Schwarz alternating method.

Discrete time crystals with absolute stability

Krzysztof Giergiel, Jia Wang, Bryan J. Dalton +2 more

We show that interacting bosons on a ring which are driven periodically by a rotating potential can support discrete time crystals whose absolute stability can be proven. The absolute stability is demonstrated by an exact mapping of discrete-time-crystal states to low-lying eigenstates of a time-independent model that reveals spontaneous breaking of space translation symmetry. The mapping ensures that there are no residual time-dependent terms that could lead to heating of the system and destruction of discrete time crystals. We also analyze periodically kicked bosons where the mapping is approximate only and cannot guarantee the absolute stability of discrete time crystals. Besides illustrating potential sources of instability, the kicked bosons model demonstrates a rich field for investigating the interplay between different time and space symmetry breaking, as well as the stability of time crystal behavior in contact with a thermal reservoir.
