Abstract

Through the technical means of computer simulation modeling and calculation, this paper systematically studies the influence of different kinds of communication channels on the key indexes such as bit error rate and communication rate of quantum communication system represented by quantum secure communication system. For the theoretical channels such as bit flip channel and phase flip channel, the transformation model of quantum state is analyzed, the mathematical model of actual physical dimension parameter transformation is established, and the software is designed and implemented.

Bingyin Ren, Yongxin Zhang, Teng Niu +2 more

The effects of different kinds of communication channels on the key indexes such as bit error rate and communication rate of quantum communication system, represented by quantum secure communication system, are systematically studied. For the actual channel, the transformation of quantum states caused by physical effects such as loss, dispersion and polarization mode dispersion in optical fiber channel is analyzed. With building in the spatial channel noise experimental data under different weather conditions, the mathematical model is established, and the software is designed and implemented.

Security performance analysis and the parameters simulation of quantum virtual private network based on IPSec protocol

Min Nie, Tao Jin, Guang Yong Yang +2 more

Traditional virtual private networks( VPNs) are conditional security. In order to ensure the security and confidentiality of user data transmission,a model of quantum VPN based on Internet protocol security( IPSec)protocol is proposed. By using quantum keys for key distribution and entangled particles for identity authentication in the network,a secure quantum VPN is relized. The important parameters affecting the performance of the VPN was analyzed. The quantitative relationship between the security key generation rate, the quantum bit error rate( QBER) and the transmission distance was obtained. The factors that affect the system throughput were also analyzed and simulated. Finally, the influence of the quantum noise channel on the entanglement swapping was analyzed. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that, under a limited number of decoy states, with the transmission distance increased from 0 to 112. 5 km,the secure key generation rate was reduced from 5. 63 × 10-3 to 1. 22 × 10-5. When the number of decoy states is fixed, the QBER increases dramatically with the increase of the transmission distance, and the maximum reaches 0. 393. Analysis shows that various factors in communication have a significant impact on system throughput. The generation rate of the effective entanglement photon pairs have decisive effect on the system throughput. Therefore,in the process of quantum VPN communication, various parameters of the system should be properly adjusted to communicate within a safe transmission distance, which can effectively improve the reliability of the quantum communication system.

Secure Quantum Communication: Simulation and Analysis of Quantum Key Distribution Protocols

Mahendra Rasay, Emmanuel D. Sebastian, Subhash Prasad Sah +2 more

Quantum computing poses significant threats to conventional cryptographic techniques such as RSA and AES, motivating the need for quantum secure communication methods. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) offers information theoretic security based on fundamental quantum principles. This paper presents a simulation-based analysis of well-known QKD protocols, namely BB84, B92, and E91, using the IBM Qiskit framework. Realistic quantum channel effects, including noise, decoherence, and eavesdropping, are modeled to evaluate protocol performance. Key metrics such as error rate, secret key generation, and security characteristics are analyzed and compared. The study highlights practical challenges in QKD implementation, including hardware limitations and channel losses, and discusses insights toward scalable and robust quantum communication systems. The results support the feasibility of QKD as a promising solution for secure communication in the quantum era.

Physical-Layer Security for Indoor Visible Light Communications with Space Shift Keying Modulation

Osama Al Haj Hassan, Erdal Panayırcı, H. Vincent Poor +1 more

In this paper, a novel physical layer security technique is presented for indoor visible light communications (VLC) systems based on optical spatial shift keying (OSSK). Transmitters are equipped with light emitting diode (LED) arrays and in OSSK information is carried only by the LED indices rather than the transmitted symbols themselves. Assuming that the source has the channel state information (CSI) of the optical channel gains between the LEDs and a legitimate user, a pre-equalizer is designed for the transmitter, which transforms the actual channel gains into a new channel realization in which equalized channel coefficients are widely apart from each other in multiple LED fixtures within the power constraint. Since the eavesdropper's channel is not equalized, its bit error rate performance is profoundly degraded. In addition, it is shown that the proposed technique does not need to have the CSI of the eavesdropper. Also an analytical expression is derived to evaluate the capacity of OSSK exactly from which the achievable secrecy capacity of the proposed scheme is obtained easily by computer simulations. In the computer simulations, the channels for different scenarios are generated by Zemax©, which is an optical design software with ray-tracing capabilities. Simulation results show that, as excellent bit error rate (BER) performance is achieved by the legitimate user, the performance of the eavesdropper degrades to a level that it is not possible to receive any meaningful information.

Examining quantum key distribution protocols in laser based satellite communications

László Bacsárdi, Andras Kiss, Máté Galambos +1 more

Quantum communications offers secure and reliable key distribution protocols. The quantum solutions can be used in laser based satellite communications. However, many different physical parameters need to be taken into account to model a free-space optical channel. To complete the determination of e.g., the Quantum Bit Error Rate, a series of derived procedures are needed to execute, which has high complexity. An ideal solution is to place the calculations for simulation software, which issues all of the interpretable information about the properties of the communication channel. We created a free-space optical Earth-space channel model, developed a simulator and modeled the behavior of three quantum key distribution protocols for a given parameter set.
