Programmable Polarization of 2D Anisotropic Rare Earth Material for Images Transmission and Encryption

Ping Chen, Xinliang Feng, Dongyan Li +6 more

Abstract Light manipulation has promoted applications in all‐optical processing. 2D anisotropic rare earth (RE) materials are promising for light modulation to realize information transmission and encryption due to the unique optical behaviors of RE ions. Here, image transmission and encryption have been realized by using 2D anisotropic RE material Eu2O3. The polarized photoluminescence (PL) of Eu2O3 has been innovatively applied for information transmission by switching the on/off states. The opposite two modes of polarization‐dependent PL have been applied to grayscale‐resolved image transmission and encryption with high security. This novel approach, polarization manipulation on the PL of 2D anisotropic RE materials, will shed light on the development of information processing, all‐optical switch, and all‐optical computation.

Optical scanning cryptography for secure wireless transmission

Ting‐Chung Poon, Tae-Geun Kim, Kyu B. Doh

We propose a method for secure wireless transmission of encrypted information. By use of an encryption key, an image or document is optically encrypted by optical heterodyne scanning and hence encryption is performed on the fly. We call this technique optical scanning cryptography. The output of the heterodyne encrypted signal is at radio frequency and can be directly sent through an antenna to a secure site for digital storage to be prepared for decryption. In the secure site, an identical optical scanning system to that used for encryption is used, together with a decryption key, to generate an electrical signal. The electrical signal is then processed and sent to a computer to be used for decryption. Utilizing the stored information received from the encryption stage and the electrical information from the secure site, a digital decryption unit performs a decryption algorithm. If the encryption key and the decryption key are matched, the decryption unit will decrypt the image or document faithfully. The overall cryptosystem can perform the incoherent optical processing counterpart of the well-known coherent double-random phase-encoding technique. We present computer simulations of the idea.

Research of Long-Distance Encrypted Signal Transmission Enhancement Method Based on Quantum Communication Power System

Xiaohua Yin, Dedong Pan, Hai Yu +3 more

The secure transmission of data in power information systems relates to the safe operation of the entire power grid. To ensure that power information data cannot be eavesdropped or deciphered during transmission, a strict encryption method is required. As computer computing capabilities continue to increase, traditional encryption algorithms face the challenge of reduced security. Quantum communication technology is a kind of encryption method relatively safe in principle. It can be applied to data transmission in power information systems, greatly improving the security of the system. However, at present, there is a problem that the signal weakens in the long-distance transmission process of the quantum, so that the long-distance quantum communication is hindered. For the above problems, a method suitable for long-distance quantum communication is researched through the analysis of the principle of quantum communication technology.
