Evolution of Entropy in the Interaction of a Cascade-type Three-level Atom and Optical Field with a Time-dependent Atom-field Coupling

Zeng Xiao-xiang

Under on-resonance condition and with a time-dependent atom-field coupling, the entropy properties of the optics field interacting with a Cascade three-level atom is studied, derive the field(atomic) entropy formula and discuss the effects of the atom-field coupling coefficient and the different initial field on the field(atom) entropy at length. The result show that the different Statistical properties of the initial field will lead to the change of the field(atom) entropy. When the atom-field coupling coefficient changes slowly, the speed of atom entering the statistical state is slowed;when the atom-field coupling coefficient changes rapidly, the oscillating frequency of the evolution of entropy speed up.

Dynamics of entropy and nonclassical properties of the state of a Λ-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode cavity field with intensity-dependent coupling in a Kerr medium

Mohammad Javad Faghihi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

In this paper, we study the interaction between a three-level atom and a quantized single-mode field with 'intensity-dependent coupling' in a 'Kerr medium'. The three-level atom is considered to be in a Λ-type configuration. Under particular initial conditions, which may be prepared for the atom and the field, the dynamical state vector of the entire system will be explicitly obtained, for the arbitrary nonlinearity function f(n) associated with any physical system. Then, after evaluating the variation of the field entropy against time, we will investigate the quantum statistics as well as some of the nonclassical properties of the introduced state. During our calculations we investigate the effects of intensity-dependent coupling, Kerr medium and detuning parameters on the depth and domain of the nonclassicality features of the atom–field state vector. Finally, we compare our obtained results with those of V -type three-level atoms.

Nonlinear optical effects on the atom–field interaction based on the nonlinear coherent states approach

Mojgan Momeni-Demneh, Ali Mahdifar, R. Roknizadeh

In this paper, to study the effects of a nonlinear medium on the atom–field interaction, we use the nonlinear coherent states approach. For this purpose, we choose the two-mode cross-Kerr as our nonlinear optical phenomena, and with the use of its algebra, we show that it can be considered as a deformed oscillator as well as a deformed su(2) algebra. Then we construct the associated two-mode nonlinear coherent states and investigate their statistical properties. After that, as an example of applicability of the constructed coherent states, we investigate the nonlinear effects of the medium on the dynamics of atom–field interaction within the framework of the coherent states. By using the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we study the effect of the nonlinear medium on the occupation probabilities of the atomic levels and consider the relation between the revival time of the atomic occupation probabilities and the nonlinear parameter of the medium. Then, to study the nonlinear effects on the dynamical properties of the cavity field, we consider the photon distribution, correlation function, Mandel parameters of the field, von Neumann entropy, and also the squeezing. Particularly, the nonlinearity of the media on the nonclassical properties of the two modes is clarified.
