Abstract

Abstract The orientation-dependence of the interference/diffraction patterns of the 1D-double slit/1D- grating and 2D-cross-double slit/2D-cross-grating experiments have been studied experimentally and theoretically. However, the above experiments were limited to certain orientations, namely rotating around either one axis or two axes. In this article, the 3-axis-rotation apparatus is introduced, which can rotate CW and CCW the 1D-double slit/2D-cross-double slit and 1D-grating/2D-cross-grating, respectively, 0 0 -360 0 around three axes independently and sequentially. By this apparatus, the orientation-dependence of the diffraction patterns is systematically studied. The experiments are performed straightforwardly and intuitively. We show the mirror-symmetry of the diffraction patterns of the 2D-cross-grating for certain orientations. Then we show that the photons, before landing on the detector/screen, behave as particles. The above observed phenomena provide the comprehensive information to theoretical study of the double slit/cross-grating experiments. We suggest that the complete mathematical model should contain three rotation angles as parameters. Furthermore, the phenomena have potential applications.

WITHDRAWN: Non-Uniform Diffraction Pattern of Grating Experiments---Rotating Grating Around Three Axes (3)

Abstract The orientation-dependence of the interference/diffraction patterns of the 1D-double slit, 2D-cross-double slit, 1D-grating and 2D-cross-grating experiments have been studied experimentally and theoretically. The universal phenomena of the curved, expanded, inclined and mirror-symmetric pattens were reported. However, the above experiments were limited to certain orientations, namely rotating the diaphragm/grating around either one axis or two axes. We show that, for certain orientations by rotating the grating around 3 axes, the spacings between adjacent diffraction orders are non-uniform. From the “starting order” to the “ending order”, the spacings between adjacent diffraction orders gradually increase. This extraordinary phenomenon challenges the existing theories. The above observed phenomena provide the comprehensive information to theoretical study of the double slit/grating experiments. We suggest that the complete mathematical model should contain three rotation angles as parameters and should be able to describe the phenomena of the non-uniform-spacing, curved, expanded, inclined and mirror-symmetric patterns consistently.

WITHDRAWN: Curved Diffraction Patterns of 2D-Cross-Grating Experiments---Double Slit Still Has Much to Offer

Abstract Young’s double slit experiments represent the mystery of quantum mechanics. To explore the mystery, varieties of the single slit, double slit, cross-double slit and 1D-grating experiments were performed, which show the universal phenomena that the interference/diffraction patterns are curved, expanded and inclined. In this article, we show novel phenomena that the diffraction patterns of the 2D-cross-grating experiments can be curved, expanded and inclined simultaneously and continuously. Those experiments provide comprehensive data for developing/testing a theoretical model.

Static to Dynamic Double Slit/Cross-Double Slit Experiments ---Straight Pattern to Curved-Expanded-Inclined Pattern

Peng, Hui

In this article, we show three novel universal phenomena of the double slit, cross-double slit and grating experiments: (1) the patterns can curve; (2) the patterns can expand; and (3) the patterns created by the tilt double slits can curved, expanded, and inclined to the axis that is perpendicular to the axis the diaphragm rotates around (“Pattern” stands for both “interference” and “diffraction patterns”). The directions of the patterns curved towards are determined by how the diaphragm rotates, i.e., clockwise (CW) or counterclockwise (CCW). To determine the directions, we proposed Right-hand rule and Left-hand rule. The magnitudes of three phenomena depend on the direction of the rotation and two angles: the original angle of the double slit on the diaphragm relative to the rotation axis and the angle the diaphragm rotates. We derived the formular to calculate the expansion of the patterns, and the formular to calculate the inclination angle of patterns. In the regular double slit experiment, photons only need to know whether there is a double slit or not. Now, photons need to know much more: (1) the orientation of the double slit; (2) which axis the diaphragm rotating around; (3) the direction of rotation, i.e., CW or CCW; (4) the angle of the rotation. The Feynman’s mystery of the double slit is more mysterious.
