Abstract

We studied a system formed by a two-level atom and two coupled cavities, where the atom interacts with one of the cavities. We considered the case where one of the cavities is initially in the thermal state and analyzed the entanglement between the atom and the other cavity. In the initial states presented here, we observed that the raising of mean value of the thermal field causes a reduction in the atom-field entanglement without affecting the others aspects of its entanglement dynamics.

In this paper,we consider the situation that two of three identical two-level atoms are trapped in two coupled cavities separately and another atom is outside the cavity. The evolution of the state vector of the system is given.Three atoms are in like-W state, and optical cavities are all in vacuum state initially.Negativity is adopted to quantify the degree of entanglement.By means of the numerical calculations,we investigate the temporal evolutions of the entanglement between atoms. The influences of coupling constant between cavities and the parameter describing the atomic initial state on the entanglements are discussed. The results show that the disentanglement time zone of atom-atom entanglement is reduced, and the curve peaks of entanglements increase as initial entanglement between atoms increases. This indicates that the entanglement between atoms is strengthened with the increase of initial entanglement between atoms. The atom-atom entanglement is also strengthened with the increase of the coupling constant between cavities. On the other hand,we consider the case which the state of atom outside cavity is measured. When a direct selective measurement is performed or not,the effect of the state-selective measurement on the entanglement is discussed. We find that the entanglement between atoms can be strengthened through the state-selective measurement.

Control of two-atom entanglement with two thermal fields in coupled cavities

Li-Tuo Shen, Zhen‐Biao Yang, Huai‐Zhi Wu +2 more

The dynamical evolution of a quantum system composed of two coupled cavities, each containing a two-level atom and a single-mode thermal field, is investigated under different conditions. The entanglement between the two atoms is controlled by the hopping strength and the detuning between the atomic transition and the cavities. We find that when the atomic transition is far off-resonant with both the eigenmodes of the coupled-cavity system, the maximally entangled state for the two atoms can be generated with the initial state in which one atom is in the ground state and the other is in the excited state. When both the two atoms are initially in the excited state, the entanglement exhibits periodical sudden birth and death. By choosing appropriate parameter values, the initial maximal entanglement of the two atoms can be frozen. The relation between the concurrence and the cooperative parameter is calculated.

Entanglement between atom interacting with a thermal field of a lossless cavity and a free atom

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Башкиров Е. К, Maria O. Guslyannikova +1 more

In the present paper we studied the entanglement of a quantum system consisting of two dipole-coupled two-level atoms, one of which interacts with one-mode thermal field in a lossless cavity, and another is outside a cavity. We obtained the analytical expression of the atom-atom negativity for separable initial atomic state and investigated the influence of a detuning between the atom and the field frequencies and direct dipole-dipole interaction on an atom-atom entanglement. We derived that detuning might cause high atom-atom entanglement in the presence of the dipole-dipole interaction. We also showed that the detuning and dipole-dipole interaction are an effective mechanisms for control and operation of the atomic entanglement.

Entanglement between two qubits one of which interacts with a thermal field

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Michail S. Mastyugin

In this paper, we have investigated the entanglement between two dipole coupled two-level atoms. The model, in which only one atom is trapped in an lossless cavity and interacts with single-mode thermal field, and the other one can be spatially moved freely outside the cavity has been carried out. We have considered the effect of the atomic coherence on the entanglement behavior. We have shown that a thermal field might cause high entanglement between the atoms both for coherent and incoherent initial atomic states only for small values of the cavity mean photon number. In the considered model the atoms would get entangled even when both atoms are initially in the excited state. We have also derived that the degree of entanglement is weakly dependent on the strength of dipole-dipole interaction for coherent initial states.

EFFECTS OF CAVITY-FIELD STATISTICS ON ATOMIC ENTANGLEMENT IN THE JAYNES–CUMMINGS MODEL

Biplab Ghosh, A. S. Majumdar, N. Nayak

We study the entanglement properties of a pair of two-level atoms going through a cavity one after another. The initial joint state of two successive atoms that enter the cavity is unentangled. Interactions mediated by the cavity photon field result in the final two-atom state being of a mixed entangled type. We consider the field statistics of the Fock state field, and the thermal field, respectively, inside the cavity. The entanglement of formation of the joint two-atom state is calculated for both these cases as a function of the Rabi angle gt. We present a comparitive study of two-atom entanglement for low and high mean photon number cases corresponding to the different fields statistics.
