Improved quantum attack on several generalized unbalanced Feistel structures

Kun Zou, Xinfeng Dong, Zhang Fuzhong

By studying the attack technology based on Simon, Grover and other quantum algorithms for the security of block cipher structure, this paper proposes new quantum attack on 6 generalized unbalanced Feistel structures. We improve the attack results of n-cell structure, New Structure I/III/IV structure and FBC-like structure, and give a quantum attack on Skipjack structure for the first time. Based on Simon algorithm, this paper constructs a n2-round, a 12/12/6-round and a 4-round quantum distinguisher about n-cell structure, New structure I/III/IV and FBC-like structure, improving n2-n-1 rounds, 6 rounds/3 rounds/1 round and 1 round separately, comparing to the previous results. In addition, this paper also constructs a 9-round quantum distinguisher about Skipjack structure. Moreover, this paper proposes a quantum key recovery attack on the above six structures in combination with Grover algorithm, and the time complexities of attacks are analyzed.

Convex quantum logic

Federico Holik, César Massri

In this work we study the convex set of quantum states from a quantum logical point of view. We consider an algebraic structure based on the convex subsets of this set. The relationship of this algebraic structure with the lattice of propositions of quantum logic is shown. This new structure is suitable for the study of compound systems and shows new differences between quantum and classical mechanics. This differences are linked to the nontrivial correlations which appear when quantum systems interact. They are reflected in the new propositional structure, and do not have a classical analogue. This approach is also suitable for an algebraic characterization of entanglement.

A new kind of geometric phases in open quantum systems and higher gauge theory

David Viennot, José Lages

A new approach is proposed, extending the concept of geometric phases to adiabatic open quantum systems described by density matrices (mixed states). This new approach is based on an analogy between open quantum systems and dissipative quantum systems which uses a C *-module structure. The gauge theory associated with these new geometric phases does not employ the usual principal bundle structure but a higher structure, a categorical principal bundle (the so-called principal 2-bundle or non-Abelian bundle gerbe) which is sometimes a non-Abelian twisted bundle. The need to site the gauge theory in this higher structure is a geometrical manifestation of the decoherence induced by the environment on the quantum system.
