Abstract

We consider two PT-symmetric models, consisting of two or three single-mode cavities. In both models, the cavities are coupled to each other by linear interactions, forming a linear chain. Additionally, the first and last of such cavities interact with an environment. Since the models are PT-symmetric, they are described by non-Hermitian Hamiltonians that, for a specific range of system parameters, possess real eigenvalues. We show that in the models considered in the article, the steering generation process strongly depends on the coupling strengths and rates of the gains/losses in energy. Moreover, we find the values of parameters describing the system for which the steering appears.

The Entanglement Generation in PT-Symmetric Optical Quadrimer System

Joanna K. Kalaga

We discuss a model consisting of four single-mode cavities with gain and loss energy in the first and last modes. The cavities are coupled to each other by linear interaction and form a chain. Such a system is described by a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian which, under some conditions, becomes P T-symmetric. We identify the phase-transition point and study the possibility of generation bipartite entanglement (entanglement between all pairs of cavities) in the system.

Stationary quantum correlations in a system with mean-field PT symmetry

Federico Roccati, Salvatore Lorenzo, G. Massimo Palma +1 more

A pair of coupled quantum harmonic oscillators, one subject to a gain one to a loss, is a paradigmatic setup to implement PT-symmetric, non-Hermitian Hamiltonians in that one such Hamiltonian governs the mean-field dynamics for equal gain and loss strengths. Through a full quantum description (so as to account for quantum noise) here is shown that when the system starts in any two-mode coherent state, including vacuum, there appear quantum correlations (QCs) without entanglement, as measured by the Gaussian discord. When the loss rate is above a threshold, once generated QCs no more decay. This occurs in a wide region of parameters, significantly larger than that where the full quantum dynamics is stable. For equal gain and loss rates, in particular, QCs decay in the exact phase (including the exceptional point) and are stable in the broken phase.

Quantum steering and entanglement in three-mode triangle Bose–Hubbard system

Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński, Radosław Szczȩśniak

We consider the possibility of generation steerable states in Bose–Hubbard system composed of three interacting wells in the form of a triangle. We show that although our system still fulfills the monogamy relations, the presence of additional coupling which transforms a chain of wells onto triangle gives a variety of new possibilities for the generation of steerable quantum states. Deriving analytical formulas for the parameters describing steering and bipartite entanglement, we show that interplay between two couplings influences quantum correlations of various types. We compare the time evolution of steering parameters to those describing bipartite entanglement and find the relations between the appearance of maximal entanglement and disappearance of steering effect.

The Bipartite and Tripartite Entanglement in PT-Symmetric System

Vinh Le Duc, Mateusz Nowotarski, Joanna K. Kalaga

We consider a PT-symmetric system that involves three optical resonant elements coupled together. We investigate the quantum correlations between subsystems by calculating bipartite and tripartite entanglement. We show that when PT-symmetry is maintained, the correlations between subsystems strongly depend on the parameters describing the interaction between them and characterizing the gain and loss of energy in the system’s active and passive elements. We estimate the range of interaction parameter values for which the strongest bipartite and tripartite entanglement can be produced. Additionally, we show that the discussed system can be a source of stable entangled states.

Non-hermitian models in higher dimensions

Pulak Ranjan Giri

It is know that PT-symmetric models have real spectra provided the symmetry is not spontaneously broken. Even pseudo-hermitian models have real spectra, which enlarge the the class of non-hermitian models possessing real spectra. We however consider non-hermitian models in higher dimensions which are not necessarily explicit PT-symmetric nor pseudo-hermitian. We show that the models may generate real spectra depending upon the coupling constants of the Hamiltonian. Our models thus further generalize the class of non-hermitian systems, which possess real spectra.
