Abstract

We consider the possibility of generation steerable states in Bose–Hubbard system composed of three interacting wells in the form of a triangle. We show that although our system still fulfills the monogamy relations, the presence of additional coupling which transforms a chain of wells onto triangle gives a variety of new possibilities for the generation of steerable quantum states. Deriving analytical formulas for the parameters describing steering and bipartite entanglement, we show that interplay between two couplings influences quantum correlations of various types. We compare the time evolution of steering parameters to those describing bipartite entanglement and find the relations between the appearance of maximal entanglement and disappearance of steering effect.

Quantum steering borders in three-qubit systems

Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński

We discuss a family of states describing three-qubit systems in a context of quantum steering phenomena. We show that symmetric steering cannot appear between two qubits—only asymmetric steering can appear in such systems. The main aim of this paper is to discuss the possible relations between the entanglement measures and steering parameter for two-mode mixed state corresponding to the qubit–qubit subsystem. We have derived the conditions determining boundary values of the negativity parametrized by concurrence. We show that two-qubit mixed state cannot be steerable when the negativity of such state is smaller than, or equal to, its boundary value. Finally, we have found ranges of the values of the mixedness measure, parametrized by concurrence and negativity for steerable and unsteerable two-qubit mixed states.

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering and coherence in the family of entangled three-qubit states

Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński, Jan Peřina

Considering the system of three interacting qubits, we analyze four families of states from the point of view of bipartite correlations appearing in two-qubit subsystems of a three-qubit model, such as Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering, entanglement, and coherence. We reveal mutual relations among the steering parameter, concurrence, and three measures of coherence (degree of coherence, first-, and second-order correlation functions). Analyzing in parallel the steerable and unsteerable states, we derive analytical formulas giving the maximal and minimal values of coherence measures as concurrence varies.

Shareability of quantum steering and its relation with entanglement

Biswajit Paul, Kaushiki Mukherjee

Steerability is a characteristic of quantum correlations lying between entanglement and Bell nonlocality. Understanding how these steering correlations can be shared between different parties has profound applications in ensuring the security of quantum communication protocols. Here we show that at most two bipartite reduced states of a three-qubit state can violate the three-setting CJWR linear steering inequality, contrary to the two-setting linear steering inequality. This result explains that quantum steering correlations have limited shareability properties apart from the conventional 'nonshareable' monogamy constraint. In contrast to the two-measurement-setting scenario, the three-setting scenario turns out to be more useful for developing a deeper understanding of the shareability of tripartite steering correlations. Apart from the distribution of steering correlations, several relations between reduced bipartite steering, different measures of bipartite entanglement of reduced states, and genuine tripartite entanglement are presented here. The results enable the detection of different kinds of tripartite entanglement.

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox and quantum steering in a three-mode optomechanical system

Qiongyi He, Z. Ficek

We study multipartite entanglement, the generation of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) states, and quantum steering in a three-mode optomechanical system composed of an atomic ensemble located inside a single-mode cavity with a movable mirror. The cavity mode is driven by a short laser pulse, has a nonlinear parametric-type interaction with the mirror and a linear beam-splitter-type interaction with the atomic ensemble. There is no direct interaction of the mirror with the atomic ensemble. A threshold effect for the dynamics of the system is found, above which the system works as an amplifier and below which as an attenuator of the output fields. The threshold is determined by the ratio of the coupling strengths of the cavity mode to the mirror and to the atomic ensemble. It is shown that above the threshold, the system effectively behaves as a two-mode system in which a perfect bipartite EPR state can be generated, while it is impossible below the threshold. Furthermore, a fully inseparable tripartite entanglement and even further a genuine tripartite entanglement can be produced above and below the threshold. In addition, we consider quantum steering and examine the monogamy relations that quantify the amount of bipartite steering that can be shared between different modes. It is found that the mirror is more capable for steering of entanglement than the cavity mode. The two-way steering is found between the mirror and the atomic ensemble despite the fact that they are not directly coupled to each other, while it is impossible between the output of cavity mode and the ensemble which are directly coupled to each other.

Mapping criteria between nonlocality and steerability in qudit-qubit systems and between steerability and entanglement in qubit-qudit systems

Changbo Chen, Changliang Ren, Xiang-Jun Ye +1 more

Entanglement, quantum steering, and nonlocality are distinct quantum correlations which are the resources behind various quantum information and quantum computation applications. However, a central question of determining the precise quantitative relation among them is still unresolved. Here we present a mapping criterion between Bell nonlocality and quantum steering in the bipartite qudit-qubit system, as well as a mapping criterion between quantum steering and quantum entanglement in the bipartite qubit-qudit system, starting from the fundamental concepts of quantum correlations. Precise quantitative mapping criteria are derived analytically. Such mapping criteria are independent of the form of the state. In particular, they cover several previous well-known research results which are only special cases in our simple mapping criteria.

Creation of bipartite steering correlations by a fast damped auxiliary mode

Lihui Sun, Kaikai Zhang, Feng Xia +3 more

Abstract We consider a three-mode system and show how steering correlations can be created between two modes of the system using the fast dissipation of the third mode. These correlations result in a directional form of entanglement, called quantum or Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen steering. We illustrate this on examples of the interactions among damped radiation modes in an optomechanical three-mode system. By assuming that one of the modes undergoes fast dissipation, we show that the coupling of that mode to one or two other modes of the system may result in one- or two-way quantum steering. Explicit analytical results are given for the steering parameters. We find that two modes coupled by the parametric-type interaction and damped with the same rates can be entangled but cannot exhibit quantum steering. When, in addition, one of the modes is coupled to a fast damped mode, steering correlations are created and the modes then exhibit one-way steering. The creation of the steering correlations is interpreted in the context of the variances of the quadrature components of the modes that the steering correlations result from an asymmetry in the variances of the quadrature components of the modes induced by the auxiliary mode. It is found that the fluctuations act directionally that quantum steering may occur only when the variance of the steering mode is larger that the variance of the steered mode. The scheme is shown to be quite robust against the thermal excitation of the modes if the fluctuations of the steering mode are larger than the fluctuations of the steered mode.
