Studying joint spectral intensity of spontaneous four-wave mixing in optical nanofibers

Alevtina L Shmakova, Anatoly Shukhin, А. А. Калачев

Abstract Joint spectral intensity of the biphoton field generated via spontaneous four-wave mixing in an optical nanofiber was studied both experimentally and theoretically. The measured two-photon frequency distribution agrees well with the theoretically expected one that is calculated taking into account the spatially inhomogeneous profile of the taper. It is shown that measuring joint spectral intensity of the biphoton field makes it possible to determine the nanofiber radius with high accuracy.

Analysis of Two Spectral Lines with Gaussian Profile by Using Photon Statistics. Comparison with Other Profile Shapes

Manuel P. Cagigal, Felipe González

In this paper we study the behavior of the errors involved in the determination of the parameters characterizing two spectral lines with Gaussian profile by means of the measurement of the intensity correlation function g(2)(τ) and by a multichannel system. The results obtained with both methods are compared. We also compare this results with those obtained when two lines with Lorentzian profile are analyzed.

Active engineering of four-wave mixing spectral correlations in multiband hollow-core fibers

Martin Cordier, Adeline Orieux, Benoît Debord +7 more

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally a high level of control of the four-wave mixing process in an inert gas-filled inhibited-coupling guiding hollow-core photonic crystal fiber. The specific multiple-branch dispersion profile in such fibers allows both correlated and separable bi-photon states to be produced. By controlling the choice of gas and its pressure and the fiber length, we experimentally generate various joint spectral intensity profiles in a stimulated regime that is transferable to the spontaneous regime. The generated profiles may cover both spectrally separable and correlated bi-photon states and feature frequency tuning over tens of THz, demonstrating a large dynamic control that will be very useful when implemented in the spontaneous regime as a photon pair source.
