Minimum-uncertainty coherent states of the hyperbolic and trigonometric Rosen–Morse oscillators

Abstract

Abstract A mixed supersymmetric-algebraic approach is employed to generate the minimum uncertainty coherent states of the hyperbolic and trigonometric Rosen–Morse oscillators. The method proposed produces the superpotentials, ground state eigenfunctions and associated eigenvalues as well as the Schrödinger equation in the factorized form amenable to direct treatment in the algebraic or supersymmetric scheme. In the standard approach the superpotentials are calculated by solution of the Riccati equation for the given form of potential energy function or by differentiation of the ground state eigenfunction. The procedure applied is general and permits derivation the exact analytical solutions and coherent states for the most important model oscillators employed in molecular quantum chemistry, coherent spectroscopy (femtochemistry) and coherent nonlinear optics.

A general scheme for the construction of minimum uncertainty coherent states of anharmonic oscillators

Marcin Molski

A mixed supersymmetric–algebraic approach to the construction of the minimum uncertainty coherent states of anharmonic oscillators is presented. It permits generating not only the well-known coherent states of the harmonic and Morse oscillators but also the so far unknown coherent states of the Wei Hua and generalized Morse and Kratzer–Fues oscillators. The method can be applied to generate superpotentials indispensable for deriving the Schrödinger equation in the supersymmetric form amenable to direct solution in the SUSYQM scheme.

New system-specific coherent states for bound state calculations

Chia‐Chun Chou, Mason Biamonte, Bernhard G. Bodmann +1 more

System-specific coherent states are constructed based on the formulation of supersymmetric quantum mechanics for arbitrary quantum systems. By regarding the superpotential as a generalized displacement variable, we identity the ground state of a quantum system as the minimizer of the supersymmetric Heisenberg uncertainty product. A special case is the ground state of the standard harmonic oscillator. One constructs standard coherent states by applying a shift operator to a 'fiducial function', taken as the ground state Gaussian. By analogy, we use the ground state for any other system as a new fiducial function, generating from its shifts new dynamically-adapted, overcomplete coherent states. The discretized system-specific coherent states can serve as a dynamically-adapted basis for bound state calculations. Accurate computational results for the Morse potential, the double well potential and the two-dimensional anharmonic oscillator systems demonstrate that the system-specific coherent states can provide rapidly-converging approximations for excited state energies and wave functions.

The algebraic approach for the derivation of ladder operators and coherent states for the Goldman and Krivchenkov oscillator by the use of supersymmetric quantum mechanics

Damian Mikulski, Krzysztof Eder, Marcin Molski

The ladder operators for the Goldman and Krivchenkov anharmonic potential have been derived within the algebraic approach. The method is extended to include the rotating oscillator. The coherent states for the Goldman and Krivchenkov oscillator, which are the eigenstates of the annihilation operator and minimize the generalized position-momentum uncertainty relation, are constructed within the framework of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The constructed ladder operators can be a useful tool in quantum chemistry computations of non-trivial matrix elements. In particular, they can be employed in molecular vibrational–rotational spectroscopy of diatomic molecules to compute transition energies and dipole matrix elements.

Coherent states for general potentials. III. Nonconfining one-dimensional examples

Michael Martin Nieto, L. M. Simmons

We apply our minimum-uncertainty coherent-states (MUCS) formalism to two one-dimensional systems that have continua: the symmetric Rosen-Morse potential and the Morse potential. The coherent states are discussed analytically in great detail, and the connections to annihilation-operator and displacement-operator coherent states are given. For the Rosen-Morse system the existence of a continuum does not prevent one from obtaining the coherent states in analytic, closed form. The Morse system, with its energy-dependent natural classical variable ${X}_{c}$, has a natural quantum operator $X$ which is Hamiltonian-dependent. This Hamiltonian dependence is complicated and prevents an easy analytic solution for the MUCS. However, approximate MUCS can be obtained by analytic approximation techniques.

New supersymmetry-generated complex potentials with real spectra

Óscar Rosas-Ortiz, Octavio Castaños, Dieter Schuch

A new form to construct complex superpotentials that produce real energy spectra in supersymmetric quantum mechanics is presented. This is based on the relation between the nonlinear Ermakov equation and a second order differential equation of the Schrödinger type. The superpotentials so constructed are characterized by the Ermakov parameters in such a way that they are always complex-valued and lead to non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real spectra, whose eigenfunctions form a bi-orthogonal system. As applications we present new complex supersymmetric partners of the free particle that are P T -symmetric and can be either periodic or regular (of the Pöschl–Teller form). A new family of complex oscillators with real frequencies that have the energies of the harmonic oscillator plus an additional real eigenvalue is introduced.
