Nonclassicality of Photon Added Bipartite Glauber Lachs State

Abstract

Abstract Mixture of coherent state with thermal noise is known as the Glauber Lachs state, which is taken into consideration. Nonlocal photon addition is imposed on the two mode Glauber Lachs state by the application of bosonic creation operators. This nonlocal photon addition induces nonclassicality, revealed in the single mode and two mode squeezing properties. The ratio of the coherent noise to thermal noise is the key factor in observing the nonclassical features. The tolerance limit of the noise for the nonclassicality is discussed in single mode squeezing and two mode squeezing quadrature operators. The results show that the squeezing properties are less pronounced even for the low level of thermal noise.

Effect of thermal noise on atom-field interaction: Glauber-Lachs versus Mixing

S. Sivakumar

Coherent signal containing thermal noise is a mixed state of radiation. There are two distinct classes of such states, a Gaussian state obtained by Glauber-Lachs mixing and a non-Gaussian state obtained by the canonical probabilistic mixing of thermal state and coherent state. Though both these versions are noise-included signal states, the effect of noise is less pronounced in the Glauber-Lachs version. Effects of these two distinct ways of noise addition is considered in the context of atom-field interaction; in particular, temporal evolution of population inversion and atom-field entanglement are studied. Quantum features like the collapse-revivals in the dynamics of population inversion and entanglement are diminished by the presence of thermal noise. It is shown that the features lost due to the presence of thermal noise are restored by the process of photon-addition.

Nonclassical properties of photon-added two-mode squeezed thermal states and their decoherence in the thermal channel

Xiang‐Guo Meng, Zhen Wang, Hong-Yi Fan +2 more

We investigate nonclassicality and decoherence of field states generated with the non-Gaussian operation of photon addition to a two-mode squeezed thermal state (TSTS) using the normally ordered density operator of the photon-added TSTS (PTSTS). The normalization factor of the PTSTS is just a Jacobi polynomial of the squeezing parameter γ and the average photon number n¯ of the thermal field. We show that the fields in such states exhibit remarkable quantum features, such as sub-Poissonian photon statistics, the anti-bunching effect, and photon-number distribution. The nonclassicality is discussed in phase space based on the partial negativity of the Wigner function (WF) with two-variable Hermite polynomials. The results show that the non-Gaussian WF always exhibits the quantum interference structure caused by the two-mode squeezing operation and has some negative regions for any value of n¯, γ, and the photon-addition numbers m, n. In addition, the effect of decoherence on the PTSTS in the thermal channel is studied by analytically deriving the time-evolution WF. We find that the WF becomes Gaussian (corresponding to a classical thermal state) at long times, losing its nonclassicality as a result of decoherence, and a larger m (or n) leads to a longer decoherence time κt.

Demonstrating higher-order nonclassical effects by photon-added classical states: realistic schemes

Juhui Lee, Jaewan Kim, Hyunchul Nha

Detecting nonclassical properties that do not allow classical interpretation of photoelectric counting events is one of the crucial themes in quantum optics. Observation of individual nonclassical effects for a single-mode field, however, has been so far practically confined to sub-Poissonian statistics and quadrature squeezing. We show that a photon-added classical (coherent or thermal) state exhibits generalized nonclassical features in all orders of creation and annihilation operators, thereby becoming a promising candidate for studying higher-order nonclassical effects. Our analysis demonstrates the robustness of these effects against nonideal experimental conditions.

Entanglement and nonclassicality of photon-added two-mode squeezed thermal state

Liyun Hu, Fang Jia, Zhi‐Ming Zhang

We introduce a kind of entangled state—a photon-addition two-mode squeezed thermal state (TMSTS)—by adding photons to each mode of the TMSTS. Using the P-representation of thermal state, the compact expression of the normalization factor is derived, a Jacobi polynomial. The nonclassicality is investigated by exploring especially the negativity of Wigner function. The entanglement is discussed by using Shchukin–Vogel criteria. It is shown that the photon addition to the TMSTS may be more effective for the entanglement enhancement than the photon subtraction from the TMSTS. In addition, the quantum teleportation is also examined, which shows that symmetrical photon-added TMSTS may be more useful for quantum teleportation than the nonsymmetric case.

Quantum correlations in excited coherent W-type state

R. Sathiyabama, A. Basherrudin Mahmud Ahmed, Sh. Mohammed

The tripartite W-state plays an important role in the quantum information science, due to its non vanishing bipartite correlations even after partially tracing one of the modes. The continuous variable extension of the W state is constructed using Glauber coherent states and excited using bosonic creation operators. The bipartite entanglement is measured through concurrence and tangle is also evaluated. The non classicality introduced in the three modes is measured in terms of quadrature squeezing and higher order squeezing. The influence of photon addition process on the entanglement and squeezing is derived, and from the result it is evident that the photon addition enhances the operational aspects of quantum correlation.

Entropy squeezing of a Jaynes–Cummings atom with the Glauber–Lachs state

Hünkar Kayhan

In this paper, we investigate the entropy squeezing of a two-level atom interacting with a quantum field prepared initially in the Glauber–Lachs state by using the Jaynes–Cummings model. We explore the effects of increasing the intensity of the thermal field over a fixed intensity of the coherent field on the entropy squeezing of the atom. We show that increasing the number of thermal photons in the coherent field has a destructive effect on the entropy squeezing of the atom.
