Theory for continuous quantum measurements of two-mode fields

A simulation scheme for the photodetection process of two-mode fields with the continuous measurements of one and both modes is presented. Continuous reduction of the two-mode field during the measurement is described. Analytical expressions for statistic characteristics of the monitored radiation are obtained.

The theory of continuous measurement is generalized so as to be applicable to a two-mode radiation field whose properties are monitored by using a \ensuremath{\Lambda} system with initial coherence between two ground states. The two-mode system is shown to offer the possibility of generating a number of new quantum states. Quantum statistics of the field following continuous measurements is calculated. Results for the phase distribution, quasiprobability distribution, and the photon-number distribution of the resulting field are also presented.

Conditional generation of special states using continuous measurements

Vlasta Peřinová, A. Lukš, J. Křepelka

The theory of continuous measurement of the photon number has been applied to a two-mode light field and it has been assumed that the second mode is being measured. An entanglement of the two-mode state has been supposed. The destructive and nondemolition continuous photon-number measurements have been compared according to their response in the first mode to the parameters of the quantum correlation and the detection time. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
