Abstract

Abstract We propose a hybrid nanomechanical resonator (NR) system, where a NR coupled to an embedded quantum dot (QD) driven by two-tone fields is also coupled to another NR via the Coulomb interaction, and investigate the absorption spectra of the probe field under both the condition of resonance and off-resonance. The absorption spectra in resonance presents a means to determine the coupling strength of the two NRs. In the off-resonance, the absorption spectra can exhibit double Fano resonance, and the positions of the double Fano resonances are related to the interaction of the two NRs, the frequencies of the NRs, and the pump detuning. Furthermore, the double Fano resonances are accompanied by the rapid normal phase dispersion, which indicates the slow- and fast-light effect. We can obtain that the group velocity index is tunable by the interaction between the two NRs, the detuning, and the different resonator frequencies, which can reach the conversion from the fast light to slow light.

Controllable fast and slow light in the hybrid quantum dot–nanomechanical resonator system mediated by another nanomechanical resonator with Coulomb interaction

Hua‐Jun Chen

We theoretically propose a hybrid nanomechanical resonator (NR) system, where a doubly clamped suspended NR with an embedded quantum dot driven by two-tone fields is coupled to another NR via the Coulomb interaction, and we investigate the absorption spectra of the probe field under different exciton-pump field detuning. In the condition of pump on-resonance, the absorption spectrum gives a method to determine the coupling strength of the two NRs. In the pump off resonance, the absorption spectra exhibit double-Fano resonance, which is determined by the interaction of the two NRs, the frequencies of the two NRs, as well as the pump detuning. Furthermore, the double-Fano resonances are accompanied by the rapid normal phase dispersion, which indicates the slow- and fast-light effect. The results show that the group velocity index is tunable by the interaction of the two NRs, the detuning, and the different resonator frequencies, which can achieve the conversion from fast light to slow light.

Multiple-Fano-resonance-induced fast and slow light in the hybrid nanomechanical-resonator system

Hua‐Jun Chen

We investigate the multiple-Fano-resonance-induced fast and slow light in a hybrid nanomechanical-resonator (NR) system, where a doubly clamped suspended NR with an embedded quantum dot driven by two-tone fields is coupled to another two NRs with different frequencies via the Coulomb interaction. We display the absorption spectra of the weak probe field under different exciton-pump field detuning, and the sharp peaks in the absorption spectra are determined by the interaction between the NRs under the resonance. In the off-resonance, the absorption spectra can exhibit multiple Fano resonance, and the positions of the multiple Fano resonances are related to the interaction between the NRs and the frequencies of the different NRs. Furthermore, the multiple Fano resonances are accompanied by the rapid normal phase dispersion, which indicates the slow- and fast-light effect. We obtain that the group velocity index is tunable by the interaction between the NRs and the detuning, which can reach the conversion between the fast and slow light.

Triple Fano resonance-induced slow light in multiple-mode coupling nanomechanical resonators

Hua‐Jun Chen

We propose a multiple-mechanical-mode-coupling nanomechanical system comprising three nanomechanical resonators (NRs) with different frequencies and each two NRs able to interact with each other. By weaving different NRs and controlling the coupling of NRs, the nanomechanical system can be series-, parallel-, or network-coupled nanoresonators network. Using two-tone fields to drive quantum dot implanted in one NR, we investigate the coherence optical responses and absorption spectrum manifested as a triple Fano resonance. Furthermore, each Fano resonance peak of the triple Fano resonance that induced the coherent optical propagation were demonstrated. The numerical results indicate that the slow light and the slow-to-fast light transition can be obtained by manipulating the interaction of NRs. These findings imply that the multiple-mechanical-mode coupling system can be a promising integration platform to achieve chip-scale applications in quantum information processing.

Fano resonance and slow light in hybrid optomechanics mediated by a two-level system

Cheng Jiang, Lei Jiang, Hualing Yu +3 more

We study the Fano resonance and slow light in a hybrid optomechanical system, where a mechanical resonator is coupled to a cavity via radiation pressure and to a two-level system (qubit) via the Jaynes-Cummings coupling. The absorption spectra of the weak probe field can exhibit a series of asymmetric Fano line shapes when the frequency of the strong control field varies. The positions of the double Fano resonances can be determined by the cavity--control-field detuning, the qubit-resonator coupling strength, and the transition frequency of the qubit. Furthermore, the transparency windows in the probe transmission spectrum are accompanied by the rapid normal phase dispersion, which indicates the slow light effect. We find that the group delay of the transmitted probe field can be tuned by the frequency and amplitude of the control field and is inversely proportional to the decay rate of the qubit.

A simple and tunable switch between slow- and fast-light in two signal modes with an optomechanical system

Peng-Cheng Ma, Lei-Lei Yan, Gui-Bin Chen +2 more

Abstract The control of slow and fast light propagation is a challenging task. Here, we theoretically study the dynamics of a driven optomechanical cavity coupled to a charged nanomechanical resonator (NR) via Coulomb interaction. We find that the tunable switch between slow- and fast-light for two signal modes can be observed from the output field by adjusting the laser-cavity detuning in this system. Moreover, the frequencies of two signal light can be tuned by Coulomb coupling strength. In comparison with previous schemes, the clear advantage of our scheme is that we can simply switch from fast- to slow-light in two signal modes by only adjusting the laser-cavity deturning from Δ = ω 1 to Δ = − ω 1 . The proposal may have potential application in optical router and quantum optomechanical memory.

Fano resonance induced fast to slow light in a hybrid semiconductor quantum dot and metal nanoparticle system

Hua‐Jun Chen

Abstract We theoretically demonstrate the Fano resonance and the conversion from fast to slow light in a hybrid semiconductor quantum dot (SQDs)-metal nanoparticle (MNPs) with cavity quantum electrodynamics treatment. The absorption spectra of the weak probe field exhibit a series of asymmetric Fano line shapes and their related optical propagation properties, such as fast and slow light effects, are investigated based on the hybrid system for suitable parametric regimes. Further, the transparency windows (i.e. the absorption dip approaches zero) in the probe absorption spectra are accompanied by the rapid steep dispersion of the Fano resonance profile, which promises the slow or fast light effect, and even tunable fast-to-slow light propagation (or vice versa) can be achieved by controlling different parameter regimes. Therefore the investigation may indicate promising applications in quantum information processing based on the hybrid SQD-MNP system.
