REALIZATION OF A TWO-ION SWAP GATE IN THE ION-TRAP SYSTEM

Da-Rong Qiu, Liu Ye

We propose an experimentally feasible scheme for implementing a two-ion swap gate in the context of the ion-trap system. In this scheme, we drive the ion with one laser beam and we map the states of one ion and the motional mode to each other. The scheme is based on resonant sideband excitation, and thus it may be realized with current ion-trap techniques.

Exponential-SWAP gate between bosonic motional modes of trapped ions

E. J. W. Koh, Rongjie Zhang, Dzmitry Matsukevich

The exponential-SWAP (eSWAP) gate generates a coherent superposition of identity and SWAP operations, with continuously tunable amplitudes. We experimentally implement this gate between two bosonic motional modes of trapped ions using spin-independent and spin-dependent beam splitter interactions. Measurements of selected slices of the joint characteristic function for distinct input states test the gate and demonstrate continuous control of the identity-SWAP superposition. This implementation provides a tunable interaction for hybrid qubit-bosonic quantum information processing.

Implementing remote controlled-NOT gates and entanglement swapping via geometric phase gates in ion-trap systems

Rong‐Can Yang, Hongcai Li, Lin Xiu +1 more

We propose a scheme for the implementation of remote controlled-NOT gates and entanglement swapping via geometric phase gates in ion-trap systems. The proposed scheme uses the two ground states of the Λ-type ions as memory instead of the vibrational mode. And the system is robust against the spontaneous radiation and the dephasing.
