REALIZATION OF A TWO-ION SWAP GATE IN THE ION-TRAP SYSTEM

Abstract

We propose an experimentally feasible scheme for implementing a two-ion swap gate in the context of the ion-trap system. In this scheme, we drive the ion with one laser beam and we map the states of one ion and the motional mode to each other. The scheme is based on resonant sideband excitation, and thus it may be realized with current ion-trap techniques.

A Simple Method to Generate Several Motional States in Two-Trapped Ions System

Zeng Hao-Sheng, Kuang Le-Man, Kelin Gao

We propose a method to create several motional states simultaneously in two-trapped ions. It relies on two standing wave lasers illuminating homogeneously both ions. By tuning the frequencies of the two standing waves to excite resonantly different sidebands of center-of-mass or breathing mode, several motional states, such as one- or two-mode squeezed states and their superpositions, and the beam-splitter output states, are generated.

Schemes to Implement the Optimal Asymmetric Economical 1→2 and 1→3 Phase-Covariant Cloning in Ion-Trap System

Ye Liu

We propose experimentally feasible schemes to implement the optimal asymmetric economical 1→2 and 1→3 phase-covariant cloning, which work without ancilla,in the context of ion-trap system. In these schemes the collective motional mode is initially prepared in the vacuum state |0.In the first scheme,we drive the first ion with a laser beam firstly, and then we map the motional mode state to the second ion.And in the second scheme,we drive two ions with different laser beams, and then we map the motional mode state to the third one.The schemes are based on resonant sideband excitation, thus they may be realized with current ion-trap techniques.

Generation of cluster states in ion-trap systems

Shi‐Biao Zheng

We propose two schemes for the generation of four-qubit cluster states in ion-trap systems. The first scheme is based on resonant sideband excitation, while the second scheme does not use the vibrational mode as the memory. The schemes can be realized with presently available ion-trap techniques.

Multi-Mode Excited Logic Gates on Trapped Ions

Zeng Hao-Sheng, Chen Dao-Jia, Kuang Le-Man +1 more

Based on the scheme of ``hot'' trapped-ion quantum computation proposed by Sϕrensen and Mϕlmer, we construct a set of multi-mode excited logic gates on trapped ions, which may be operated on arbitrary even number of ions selected randomly from a string of ions trapped in a linear trap. The gate speed may be made faster than that of the corresponding one-mode excited logic gate by adjusting appropriately the detunings of driving lasers with respect to the sidebands of vibrational modes and can be demonstrated in current experimental techniques.

Quantum logic gates with two-level trapped ions beyond Lamb–Dicke limit

Zheng Xiao-Juan, Luo Yi-Min, Cai Jian-Wu

In the system with two two-level ions confined in a linear trap, this paper presents a simple scheme to realize the quantum phase gate (QPG) and the swap gate beyond the Lamb–Dicke (LD) limit. These two-qubit quantum logic gates only involve the internal states of two trapped ions. The scheme does not use the vibrational mode as the data bus and only requires a single resonant interaction of the ions with the lasers. Neither the LD approximation nor the auxiliary atomic level is needed in the proposed scheme. Thus the scheme is simple and the interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence. The experimental feasibility for achieving this scheme is also discussed.
