Abstract

Based on the algebraic entanglement measure proposed [G. Vidal et al., Phys. Rev. A 65 (2002) 032314],we study the entanglement evolution of both pure quantum states and mixed ones of 2-qutrit system in a symmetrybroken environment consisting of a fermionic bath. Entanglement of states will decrease or remain constant under the influence of environment, and the class of states which remain unchanged has been found out.

Entanglement dynamics and decoherence of three-qubit system in a fermionic environment

XIAO SAN MA, An Min Wang, Xiao Dong Yang +1 more

We study the entanglement dynamics of the three-qubit system in a symmetry-broken environment consisting of a fermionic bath. Decoherence induced by the bath is analysed. We find that the entanglement of states will decrease or remain unchanged under the system–bath interaction. The class of decoherence-free states of the three-qubit system of our model has been found out.

Qubit-environment entanglement in pure dephasing dynamics for mixed initial states

Małgorzata Strzałka, Nico Peters, Laura Ares +2 more

Decoherence of qubits is one main limitation in quantum information processing, where the qubits themselves can be mixed because of decoherence and additional decoherence may generated through interactions with a bath. Here, we present a complete study of qubit-environment entanglement in the case of interactions that lead to pure dephasing of the qubit by allowing the initial state of the qubit to be mixed, exceeding previous restrictions. We find that the criteria for separability that hold for pure initial states of the qubit are reduced to witness status. Yet, the evolution of the witnesses reflects the array of features that entanglement can exhibit in the mixed case but are forbidden in the pure-qubit case. Most notably, this includes sudden birth of entanglement as the initial phase of the evolution is typically separable. Moreover, there is a stark numerical advantage to the study of entanglement for large environments when using the witness rather than the traditional measures available. We include the study of entanglement generated between a spin qubit and a sparse spin environment to illustrate the peculiarities of the evolution of entanglement in this case, as well as to emphasize the level of reliability of the entanglement witness.

Entanglement evolution of two three-level atoms in a fermionic environment

Xiao-San Ma, Wang An-Min, (1)中国科学技术大学近代物理系,合肥 230026; (2)中国科学技术大学近代物理系,合肥 230026;安徽工业大学电气信息学院,马鞍山 243002

We study the entanglement evolution of two three-level atoms in a fermionic environment. Our results show that the entanglement evolution depends not only on the strength of the interaction between the system and environment, but also on the structure of states. For the cases of concern, we find that the stronger the interaction between the system and environment is, the faster the entanglement of the system decreases. The entanglement of pure quantum states vanishes completely when the time goes to infinity; while for the mixed state, the entanglement will be completely destroyed by decoherence in finite time. The decoherence-free subspace SDF has been identified by using linear entropy to measure decoherence. A density matrix that only can be expanded by the elements of SDF does not perceive the presence of the environment and the entanglement and its linear entropy remain unchangeable. Our analysis will shed some light on the effect of a fermionic environment on the entanglement of bosonic systems.

Entanglement in fermion systems

N. Gigena, R. Rossignoli

We analyze the problem of quantifying entanglement in pure and mixed states of fermionic systems with a fixed number parity yet not necessarily a fixed particle number. The mode entanglement between one single-particle level and its orthogonal complement is first considered, and an entanglement entropy for such a partition of a particular basis of the single-particle Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ is defined. The sum over all single-particle modes of this entropy is introduced as a measure of the total entanglement of the system with respect to the chosen basis and it is shown that its minimum over all bases of $\mathcal{H}$ is a function of the one-body density matrix. Furthermore, we show that if minimization is extended to all bases related through a Bogoliubov transformation, then the entanglement entropy is a function of the generalized one-body density matrix. These results are then used to quantify entanglement in fermion systems with four single-particle levels. For general pure states of such a system a closed expression for the fermionic concurrence is derived, which generalizes the Slater correlation measure defined by J. Schliemann et al. [Phys. Rev. A 64, 022303 (2001)], implying that particle entanglement may be seen as minimum mode entanglement. It is also shown that the entanglement entropy defined before is related to this concurrence by an expression analogous to that in the two-qubit case. For mixed states of this system the convex roof extension of the previous concurrence and entanglement entropy is evaluated analytically, extending the results in previous reference to general states.

A study of Quantum Correlations in Open Quantum Systems

Indranil Chakrabarty, Subhashish Banerjee, Nana Siddharth

In this work, we study quantum correlations in mixed states. The states studied are modeled by a two-qubit system interacting with its environment via a quantum non demolition (purely dephasing) as well as dissipative type of interaction. The entanglement dynamics of this two qubit system is analyzed. We make a comparative study of various measures of quantum correlations, like Concurrence, Bell's inequality, Discord and Teleportation fidelity, on these states, generated by the above evolutions. We classify these evoluted states on basis of various dynamical parameters like bath squeezing parameter $r$, inter-qubit spacing $r_{12}$, temperature $T$ and time of system-bath evolution $t$. In this study, in addition we report the existence of entangled states which do not violate Bell's inequality, but can still be useful as a potential resource for teleportation. Moreover we study the dynamics of quantum as well as classical correlation in presence of dissipative coherence.
