Quantum Data Center Infrastructures: A Scalable Architectural Design Perspective

Hassan Shapourian, Eneet Kaur, Troy J. Sewell +4 more

This paper presents the design of scalable quantum networks that utilize optical switches to interconnect multiple quantum processors, facilitating large-scale quantum computing. By leveraging these novel architectures, we aim to address the limitations of current quantum processors and explore the potential of quantum data centers. We provide an in-depth analysis of these architectures through the development of simulation tools and performance metrics, offering a detailed comparison of their advantages and trade-offs. We hope this work serves as a foundation for the development of efficient and resilient quantum networks, designed to meet the evolving demands of future quantum computing applications.

Scalable and secure architecture for quantum networks

Muneer Alshowkan, Philip G. Evans, Brian P. Williams +6 more

We demonstrate a scalable quantum local area network design with secure classical communications for data management and instrument control. In this design, secret keys generated from quantum key distribution are supplied to commercial off-the-shelf firewalls to establish encrypted control planes between three remote nodes.

Spin-photon module for scalable network architecture in quantum dots

Xingyu Zhu, Tao Tu, Ao-Lin Guo +3 more

Reliable information transmission between spatially separated nodes is fundamental to a network architecture for scalable quantum technology. Spin qubit in semiconductor quantum dots is a promising candidate for quantum information processing. However, there remains a challenge to design a practical path from the existing experiments to scalable quantum processor. Here we propose a module consisting of spin singlet-triplet qubits and single microwave photons. We show a high degree of control over interactions between the spin qubit and the quantum light field can be achieved. Furthermore, we propose preparation of a shaped single photons with an efficiency of 98%, and deterministic quantum state transfer and entanglement generation between remote nodes with a high fidelity of 90%. This spin-photon module has met the threshold of particular designed error-correction protocols, thus provides a feasible approach towards scalable quantum network architecture.
