Abstract

QUANTIZED radiation fields exhibiting nonclassical properties have been of great theoretical andexperimental interest in the last two decades. It is shown that various nonclassical states suchas squeezed state and Schrodinger cat state can be generated out of coherent state in thenonlinear process of the interaction of atom and field although the radiation field in a coherent

ON THE GENERATION OF INTERMEDIATE NUMBER SQUEEZED STATE OF THE QUANTIZED RADIATION FIELD

B. Baseia, Andreísa Fabri Lima, Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato

Recently, a new state of the quantized radiation field — the intermediate number squeezed state (INSS) — has been introduced in the literature: it interpolates between the number state |n> and the squeezed state |z, α>=Ŝ(z)|α>, and exhibits interesting nonclassical properties as antibunching, sub-Poissonian statistics and squeezing. Here we introduce a slight modification in the previous definition allowing us a proposal to generate the INSS. Nonclassical properties using a new set of parameters are also studied.

Basic properties of squeezed light

Vladimir P Bykov

The physical picture of the properties of light in squeezed and in other nonclassical states is presented and compared with the properties of light in the classical coherent state. The theoretical basis of the description and the generation of squeezed light is presented, and a practical scheme for obtaining light in other of its nonclassical states is discussed. The general nature of the phenomenon is emphasized, as well as the possibility of its transfer to other fields such as acoustics, mechanics, and various Bose fields.

A simple proposal for generation of various classes of cat-like state via quantum nonlinear optical processes

A Noury, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

Abstract Generation of nonclassical states is a necessary requirement for all quantum science and technology protocols. In this regard, Schrödinger cat states, as quantum superpositions of mocroscopically distinguishable coherent states with equal amplitude and opposite phases, have been of great importance in recent years. In this paper, using some appropriate nonlinear optical media, a theoretical scheme is employed to generate various classes of cat-like states with the help of the connection between quantum and nonlinear optics. In fact, we have exploited a single simple method to produce even, odd and also Yurke-Stoler cat-like states by considering different input states such as coherent squeezed, squeezed coherent, photon-added coherent, pair coherent and trio coherent states. To achieve the purpose, we extensively use cross-Kerr interaction and its further generalizations to higher-orders. Projective measurement is the original conception behind the represented approach by which distinct types of nonclassical states are obtained. At last, we pay our attention to the unavoidable effect of field dissipation and show that in most of the above-studied states we may still achieve the cat-like states, however, with attenuated amplitudes.

A generalized nonclassical state of the radiation field and some of its properties

Pinaki Roy, Barnana Roy

We construct a generalized nonclassical state of the quantized radiation field (which in different limits yields the vacuum state, the number state, the binomial state, the negative binomial state and the coherent state) and examine various nonclassical properties of this state.

Non-classicalities exhibited by the superposition of Schrödinger’s cat state with the vacuum of the optical field

Abstract Superposition of two coherent states, the Schrodinger’s cat state, can exhibit different nonclassical properties having foundational applications in quantum information processing. We consider the ‘superposition of Schrodinger’s cat state with the vacuum state (SCVS)’ of the optical field. We discuss different witness of nonclassicality properties such as lower- and higher-order squeezing (viz., squeezing, Hong & Mandel’s fourth-order squeezing, amplitude-squared squeezing) and sub-Poissonian photon statistics. Further, we discuss the negativity of the Wigner function of SCVS indicating the nonclassicality of the state under investigation. We find that the vacuum state contribution in SCVS exhibits different nonclassicalities under some conditions stronger where the nonclassicalities exhibited by the state without vacuum state contribution are weaker.
