High-efficiency interaction-free measurements using a stabilized Fabry-Perot cavity

Using a Fabry-Perot cavity with high transmittivity, it is possible to realize high-efficiency interaction-free measurements. In the scheme, it is required to stabilize the Fabry-Perot cavity when the measurements are performed. We have developed a stabilized Fabry-Perot cavity, and demonstrated the interaction-free measurements with the efficiency of 88 %.

High-efficiency interaction-free measurements using a stabilized Fabry–Pérot cavity

Naoto Namekata, Shuichiro Inoue

Using a Fabry–Perot cavity with high transmittivity, we have realized high-efficiency interaction-free measurements. The required stability of the cavity was achieved by employing the Pound-Drever feedback scheme without disturbing the measurement. For both an absorbing and a transparent object, the probability of correctly determining the presence or absence of the object (the efficiency of the interaction-free measurement) was found to be 88%.
