Type-II quantum dot nanowire structures with large oscillator strengths for optical quantum gating applications

Masoomeh Taherkhani, Niels Gregersen, Morten Willatzen +1 more

The exciton oscillator strength (OS) in type-II quantum dot (QD) nanowires is calculated by using a fast and efficient method. We propose a new structure in Double-Well QD (DWQD) nanowire that considerably increases OS of type-II QDs which is a key parameter in optical quantum gating in the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) process for implementing quantum gates.

Dynamic Optical Bistabilities in ZnSe/ZnS Multiple Quantum Wells

Yudong Liu, Xiangming Yang, Chunfei Li +4 more

The excitonic optical nonlinearities in II-VI semiconductor thin films and multiple quantum wells (MQWs) are much complicated than those of GaAs MQWs because the wider band gap and smaller excitons of II-VI semiconductor materials. We report here the observations of dynamic optical bistabilities in ZnSe/ZnS MQWs at low temperature caused by excitonic optical nonlinearity.
