Abstract

This paper will review the basic building blocks of quantum computing and discuss the main applications in artificial intelligence that can be addressed more efficiently using the quantum computers of today. Artificial intelligence and quantum computing have many features in common. Quantum computing can provide artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms with speed of training and computational power in less price. Artificial intelligence on the other hand can provide quantum computers with the necessary error correction algorithms. Some of the algorithms in AI that have been successfully implemented on a quantum computer, that we will present in this paper, are both unsupervised learning algorithms (clustering and Principal component analysis) and also supervised learning classification, such as support vector machines.

Quantum computing (QC) is the emerging technology for solving complex problems through the laws of quantum mechanism and optimized algorithms. To examine the possibilities of active cooperation across both disciplines of computer science, this article explains the core components of quantum computing and conveys some of the important features linked by quantum computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). To make major progress with artificial intelligence, quantum computing is probably necessary. Quantum computing’s training and processing power can be used to improve AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms at a reduced cost. AI can provide quantum computers with crucial error-correcting algorithms. Several AI algorithms have been successfully applied to quantum computers; they are constrained by the computational power of conventional computers despite developing useful applications. Artificial intelligence may benefit from quantum computing’s computational boost in order to handle more challenging issues. This case study explains the importance of quantum computing, the future of QC in AI, and the different applications of quantum computing, such as AI and ML, cybersecurity and cryptography, and weather forecasting.

Achraf Abdelghafour Zemate, Ismail El Gaabouri, Moulay Brahim Sedra

Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing represent a new frontier in computing, offering the promise of solving problems previously considered unsolvable. This article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the current state of research at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. We will explore the basic concepts, major applications, and challenges of quantum machine learning (QML). We will start by offering a definition of the motivation for the convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. We will then proceed to offer a description of the basic algorithmic frameworks for quantum machine learning, such as quantum differential algorithms (VQA) for near-term quantum (NISQ) devices and the prospects for error-tolerant quantum algorithms such as the Harrow-Hassidim-Lloyd algorithm. We will then proceed to offer a methodical analysis of the current applications of quantum machine learning in finance, cybersecurity, materials science, among other fields. We will then proceed to discuss the basic challenges facing the implementation of quantum machine learning, while offering a glimpse of the future of quantum-enhanced artificial intelligence.

Quantum Computing in Artificial Intelligence: a Review of Quantum Machine Learning Algorithms

Ololade Funke Olaitan, Samuel Oluwabukunmi Ayeni, Adedapo Olosunde +5 more

Two of the most disruptive technologies of the 21st century are quantum computing and artificial intelligence. Their intersection has led to the emergence of a new discipline referred to as Quantum Machine Learning (QML), which aims to enhance the capabilities of classical machine learning by leveraging the computational advantages of quantum devices. This paper provides a survey of the most advanced Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithms, including Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVMs), Quantum k-nearest Neighbours (QkNN), Quantum Principal Component Analysis (QPCA), Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs), and Quantum Reinforcement Learning (QRL). The theoretical and practical status, as well as the empirical performance, of these algorithms, were summarised using a structured review method. The findings reveal a potential for speed-ups in classification, clustering, and optimisation among a range of applications, particularly for perfect quantum systems. However, hardware constraints, software irregularities, and training issues, such as barren plateaus, have limited the practical utility of this approach. Applications of QML in areas such as disaster preparedness and management, drug discovery, environmental sustainability, urban planning methodology, NLP, and finance demonstrate both the potential and current limitations of QML, with most applications still at the proof-of-concept level. In this review, we conclude that QML could be revolutionary, but its feasibility ultimately relies on improvements in physical hardware, the robustness of algorithms, and the standardisation of benchmarks.

Eslam Ashraf Elhadidi, Ahmad Salah

The field of Quantum Artificial Intelligence (Quantum AI) has emerged as a promising interdisciplinary research area where the computational power of quantum computing is merged with the learning and decision-making power of AI. The application of quantum principles such as superposition, entanglement and quantum interference to machine learning algorithms has created new possibilities for solving problems that may be difficult to solve by classical machines. In the last few years, advances in Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices have helped to speed advances in Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithms, Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs), Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVMs), Quantum Convolutional Neural Networks (QCNNs) and hybrid learning algorithms. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the research in the field of Quantum AI from 2020 to 2026, covering the key concepts, novel architectures, algorithmic advancements, and practical applications. A critical assessment of the application of Quantum AI in fields such as healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, scientific computing and optimization problems is provided, and the benefits of quantum-enhanced learning models are discussed. In addition, common difficulties such as quantum hardware limitations, sensitivity to noise, encoding of data, scalability constraints and a lack of speed in training variational quantum circuits are discussed. The review also covers new avenues of research, including trustworthy quantum machine learning, explainable Quantum AI, quantum federated learning, and fault-tolerant quantum computing. The results suggest while practical large-scale deployment is currently limited by existing hardware capabilities, hybrid quantum-classical systems have great potential to rapidly move intelligent data processing and develop next-generation AI systems.
