On the pseudo hermiticity and q-deformation

Abstract

Abstract The non hermiticity of the Hamiltonian is shown to be generated from the q-deformation of the algebra. As an example the q-deformed harmonic oscillator is investigated within the leading order approximation in the pseudo Hermitian perturbation theory. A generalized form of the metric is constructed. The spectrum as well as eigenstates of the system are derived explicitly.. Some applications and illustrations in q-deformed quantum statistical mechanics are also discussed.

Pseudo-Hermitian position and momentum operators, Hermitian Hamiltonian, and deformed oscillators

Alexandre M. Gavrilik, І. І. Качурик

The recently introduced by us, two- and three-parameter (p, q)- and (p, q, [Formula: see text])-deformed extensions of the Heisenberg algebra were explored under the condition of their direct link with the respective (nonstandard) deformed quantum oscillator algebras. In this paper, we explore certain Hermitian Hamiltonians build in terms of non-Hermitian position and momentum operators obeying definite [Formula: see text](N)-pseudo-hermiticity properties. A generalized nonlinear (with the coefficients depending on the particle number operator N) one-mode Bogoliubov transformation is developed as main tool for the corresponding study. Its application enables to obtain the spectrum of “almost free” (but essentially nonlinear) Hamiltonian.

Deformed Heisenberg algebra and its Hilbert space representations

Latévi M. Lawson, Ibrahim Nonkané, Kinvi Kangni

A deformation of Heisenberg algebra induces among other consequences a loss of Hermiticity of some operators that generate this algebra. Therefore, these operators are not Hermitian, nor is the Hamiltonian operator built from them. In the present paper, we propose a position deformation of Heisenberg algebra with both maximal length and minimal momentum uncertainties. By using a pseudo-similarity transformation to the non-Hermitian operators, we prove their Hermiticity with a suitable positive-definite pseudo-metric operator. We then construct Hilbert space representations associated with these pseudo-Hermitian operators. Finally, we study the eigenvalue problem of a free particle in this deformed space and we show that this deformation curved the quantum levels allowing particles to jump from one state to another with low energy transitions.

An alternative construction of the positive inner product for pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians: Examples

Ashok Das, L. Greenwood

In this paper, we build on our earlier proposal for the construction of a positive inner product for pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians and present examples to clarify the procedure. We focus on two detailed calculations where the method is used, namely, a simple (generalized 2×2 matrix) pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian, which can be diagonalized, and a second system where the Hamiltonian cannot be diagonalized, but can be described as a perturbation of the harmonic oscillator. When the quantum mechanical system cannot be diagonalized exactly, our construction can be carried out perturbatively and we develop the general formalism for such a perturbative calculation systematically (for real eigenvalues).

The Metric Operator and the Functional Integral Formulation of Pseudo-Hermitian Quantum Mechanics

Hugh F Jones

Pseudo-Hermitian quantum theories are those in which the Hamiltonian H satisfies H† = ηHη-1, where η = e-Q is a positive-definite Hermitian operator, rather than the usual H† = H. In the operator formulation of such theories the standard Hilbert-space metric must be modified by the inclusion of η in order to ensure their probabilistic interpretation. With possible generalizations to quantum field theory in mind, it is important to ask how the functional integral formalism for pseudo-Hermitian theories differs from that of standard theories. It turns out that here Q plays quite a different role, serving primarily to implement a canonical transformation of the variables. It does not appear explicitly in the expression for the vacuum generating functional. Instead, the relation to the Hermitian theory is encoded via the dependence of Z on the external source j(t). These points are illustrated and amplified in various versions of the Swanson model, a non-Hermitian transform of the simple harmonic oscillator.

Factorization and q-Deformed Algebra of Quantum Anharmonic Oscillator

Dongsu Bak A, S P Kim, S K Kim +2 more

We have studied the underlying algebraic structure of the anharmonic oscillator by using the variational perturbation theory. To the first order of the variational perturbation, the Hamiltonian is found to be factorized into a supersymmetric form in terms of the annihilation and creation operators, which satisfy a q-deformed algebra. This algebraic structure is used to construct all the eigenstates of the Hamiltonian.

Generalized q-deformed oscillators, q-Hermite polynomials, generalized coherent states

Burban, I. M.

The aim of this paper is to study generalized q-analogs of the well-known q-deformed harmonic oscillators and to connect them with q-Hermite polynomials. We give a construction of the appropriate oscillator-like algebras and show that corresponding Hermite polynomials are generalization of the discrete q-Hermite I and the discrete q-Hermite II polynomials. We also construct generalized coherent states of Barut-Girardello type for oscillator-like systems connected with these polynomials.
