Quantum Entanglement and Phase Control of Nonclassical Electromagnetic Fields Interacting with Atomic Systems

Abstract

The interaction of a three-level atom with two quantum field modes has been studied analytically. Strong quantum entanglement between individual parts of the considered multipartite system has been revealed and the possibility of its controlled variation has been demonstrated. Methods of the transmission and exchange of phase information between field modes, as well as of direct measurement of the phase characteristics of an unknown state of the input field, have been developed on the basis of quantum entanglement between initially independent quantum fields interacting with an atom.

Interaction and entanglement of non-classical electromagnetic fields with 3-level model atom

D. V. Popolitova, Olga V. Tikhonova

We investigated the dynamics of a three-level atom during the interaction with two resonant electromagnetic quantum fields and obtained an analytical solution. Effects of “collapse” and “revival” are revealed for atomic level populations and mean photon number. The atomic dynamics are compared for different initial field states. The changing in photon statistics is shown. The entanglement between atomic and field subsystem is calculated using еруSchmidt parameter.

Excitation of Atomic Systems by Nonclassical Electromagnetic Fields

К. В. Запьянцев, Olga V. Tikhonova

Abstract Interaction between atomic systems and nonclassical electromagnetic fields is considered using the example of a two-level system. The dynamics of such characteristics as the population of atomic levels, the entanglement of field and atomic subsystems, and the distribution of the number of photons for an active field are investigated.

Dynamics of atom-field entanglement: Towards strong-coupling and non-Markovian regimes

Nick Cummings, B. L. Hu

We examine the dynamics of bipartite quantum entanglement between a two-level atom and the electromagnetic field. We begin with the Jaynes-Cummings model with a single field mode and examine in detail the exact time evolution of entanglement, including cases where the atomic state is initially mixed and the atomic transition is detuned from resonance. We then explore the effects of other nearby modes by calculating the exact time evolution of entanglement in more complex systems with two, three, and five field modes. For these cases we can obtain exact solutions which include the strong-coupling regime. Finally, we consider the entanglement of a two-level atom with the infinite collection of modes present in the intracavity field of a Fabre-Perot cavity. In contrast to the usual treatment of atom-field interactions with a continuum of modes using the Born-Markov approximation, our treatment in all cases describes the full non-Markovian dynamics of the atomic subsystem under general couplings. Only when an analytic expression for the infinite mode case is desired do we need to make a weak coupling assumption which at late times approximates Markovian dynamics.

Entanglement Control of Two-Level Atoms in Dissipative Cavities

Reyad Salah, Ahmed M. Farouk, Ahmed Farouk +3 more

An open quantum bipartite system consisting of two independent two-level atoms interacting nonlinearly with a two-mode electromagnetic cavity field is investigated by proposing a suitable non-Hermitian generalization of the Hamiltonian. The mathematical procedure of obtaining the corresponding wave function of the system is clearly given. Pancharatnam phase is studied to give a precise information about the required initial system state, which is related to artificial phase jumps, to control the degree of entanglement (DEM) and get the highest concurrence. We discuss the effect of time-variation coupling, and dissipation of both atoms and cavity. The effect of the time-variation function appears as frequency modulation (FM) effect in the radio waves. Concurrence rapidly reaches the disentangled state (death of entanglement) by increasing the effect of field decay. On the contrary, the atomic decay has no effect.

Preparation and control of entangled states in the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving atom via two-photon process

Xiaojuan Liu, Bingju Zhou, Liu Ming-Wei +1 more

We investigate the preparation and the control of entangled states in a system with the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving two-level atom via the two-photon transition. We discuss entanglement properties between the two-mode coherent fields and a moving two-level atom by using the quantum reduced entropy, and those between the two-mode coherent fields by using the quantum relative entropy. In addition, we examine the influences of the atomic motion and field-mode structure parameter p on the quantum entanglement of the system. Our results show that the period and the duration of the prepared maximal atom-field entangled states and the frequency of maximal two-mode field entangled states can be controlled, and that a sustained entangled state of the two-mode field, which is independent of atomic motion and the evolution time, can be obtained, by choosing appropriately the parameters of atomic motion, field-mode structure, initial state and interaction time of the system.

The Study on Entanglement in the Resonant Interaction Between one of the two Entangled Two-level Atoms and Cavity Field

Yun‐Jie Xia

When one of the two entangled two-level atoms interacts with a single-mode vacuum cavity resonantly,an arbitrary state measurement is made on one part of the system to control the entanglement state of the other two parts through choosing evolution times. The paper investigates the evolution characteristics of the three-body entanglement and the entanglement between two parts of the system at different initial state when measurements are not made. The results show that all entanglement in this system oscillates periodically,w-entangled state can be gotten via choosing appropriate initial state and interaction time, and the initial entanglement information between two atoms can be completely transferred to the atom outside of the cavity and the cavity field at a particular evolution moment.
