Local realizations of q-oscillators in quantum mechanics

Abstract

Representations of the quantum q-oscillator algebra are studied with particular attention to local Hamiltonian representations of the Schroedinger type. In contrast to the standard harmonic oscillators such systems exhibit a continuous spectrum. The general scheme of realization of the q-oscillator algebra on the space of wave functions for a one-dimensional Schroedinger Hamiltonian shows the existence of non-Fock irreducible representations associated to the continuous part of the spectrum and directly related to the deformation. An algorithm for the mapping of energy levels is described.

Localized and Non-Localized Solutions of q-Deformed Oscillators

Kozo Koizumi, Ikuo S. Sogami

Eigenfunctions of the Fock and non-Fock irreducible representations are explicitly derived for the q-deformed oscillators of the Macfarlane and Dubna types. While the Fock representations are composed of localized functions, the non-Fock representations consist of nonlocal oscillating functions which are constructed for the first time in this paper. The concept of the q-Hermite functions is generalized to include both the Fock and non-Fock types in a unified manner.

Hq(4) symmetry: the linear q-harmonic oscillator based on generalized irreps of the q-deformed Heisenberg algebra

B. E. Palladino, Paulo Leal Ferreira

An extended treatment of the one-dimensional q-harmonic oscillator, based on two examples of inequivalent representations of the Heisenberg quantum algebra which appeared recently in literature is presented. The dependence of several oscillator properties such as the energy spectrum, uncertainty relations and selection rules on the new parameters characterizing those generalized representation is also discussed.

Approach of the continuous q-Hermite polynomials to x-representation of q-oscillator algebra and its coherent states

Hossein Fakhri, S. Elham Mousavigharalari

We use the recursion relations of the continuous [Formula: see text]-Hermite polynomials and obtain the [Formula: see text]-difference realizations of the ladder operators of a [Formula: see text]-oscillator algebra in terms of the Askey–Wilson operator. For [Formula: see text]-deformed coherent states associated with a disc in the radius [Formula: see text], we obtain a compact form in [Formula: see text]-representation by using the generating function of the continuous [Formula: see text]-Hermite polynomials, too. In this way, we obtain a [Formula: see text]-difference realization for the [Formula: see text]-oscillator algebra in the finite interval [Formula: see text] as a [Formula: see text]-generalization of known differential formalism with respect to [Formula: see text] in the interval [Formula: see text] of the simple harmonic oscillator.

A deformation of quantum mechanics

You‐Quan Li, Zheng-Mao Sheng

On a one-dimensional lattice without uniform interval, the Hermitian conjugation of a q-differential operator is discussed. Then a deformation of quantum mechanics in one dimension is presented. As an application, the harmonic oscillator is discussed. The energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are shown to depend on an arbitrary deformation function. The deformed coherent states are also discussed. It is found that the completeness relation of coherent states holds for the case of q-coherent states, i.e. the deformation of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is a q-analogue Hopf algebra.

Unified Representation of Quantum Mechanics on One-dimensional Harmonic Oscillator

Yongqin Wang

A quantum state corresponds to a specific wave function. We adopt a new mathematical method [1] to improve Dirac's ladder operator method. A set of orthonormal wave functions will be used to associate the operator with the square matrix corresponding to it. These allow us to determine the matrix elements by using the operator relations without having to know the specific wave functions. As a result, we can get the direct results of matrix mechanics and wave mechanics on one-dimensional Harmonic oscillator and their descriptions will be also unified.

Algebraic Solution of the Harmonic Oscillator With Minimal Length Uncertainty Relations

Kay L. Gemba, Zvonimir Hlousek, Zoltán Papp

In quantum mechanics with minimal length uncertainty relations the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra of the one-dimensional harmonic oscillator is a deformed SU(1,1) algebra. The eigenvalues and eigenstates are constructed algebraically and they form the infinite-dimensional representation of the deformed SU(1,1) algebra. Our construction is independent of prior knowledge of the exact solution of the Schrödinger equation of the model. The approach can be generalized to the $D$-dimensional oscillator with non-commuting coordinates.
