Abstract

Radiation pressure in an optomechanical system can be used to generate various quantum entanglements between the subsystems. Recently, one paid more attention to the study of quantum entanglement in an optomechanical system. Here in this work, we study the properties of output entanglement between two filtered output optical fields by the logarithmic negativity method in a double-cavity optomechanical system. Our calculations show that the decay rate of the mechanical resonator, the bandwidth of filter function, and non-equal-coupling will evidently affect the value of the output entanglement. In particular, under the parameters of equal-coupling and zero filter bandwidth, the output entanglement in the vicinity of resonant frequency (=0 in the rotating frame) will decease with mechanical decay rate increasing. But under the parameters of equal-coupling and non-zero filter bandwidth, the output entanglement will be suppressed if the center frequency of output field is in the vicinity of the resonant frequency. However, the output entanglement can be enhanced if we adopt a non-equal-coupling to counteract the suppression effect of the filter bandwidth. Furthermore, we find that there are three peaks in the whole center frequency domain of the output field if we adopt strong non-equal-coupling. This is because the normal mode of Hamiltonian Hint will split into three normal modes in this case. Our results can also be used in other parametrically coupled three-mode bosonic systems and may be applied to realizing the state transfer process and quantum teleportation in an optomechanical system.

Enhanced output entanglement with reservoir engineering

Xiao-Bo Yan

We study the output entanglement in a three-mode optomechanical system via reservoir engineering by shifting the center frequency of filter function away from resonant frequency. We find the bandwidth of the filter function can suppress the entanglement in the vicinity of resonant frequency of the system, while the entanglement will become strong if the center frequency departs from the resonant frequency. We obtain the approximate analytical expressions of the output entanglement, from which we give the optimal center frequency at which the entanglement takes the maximum. Furthermore, we study the effects of time delay between the two output fields on the output entanglement, and obtain the optimal time delay for the case of large filter bandwidth.

Nonreciprocal coupling induced entanglement enhancement in a double-cavity optomechanical system

Yuan Yuan Liu, Zhi‐Ming Zhang, Jun‐Hao Liu +2 more

We investigate the quantum entanglement in a double-cavity optomechanical system consisting of an optomechanical cavity and an auxiliary cavity, where the optomechanical cavity mode couples with the mechanical mode via radiation-pressure interaction, and simultaneously couples with the auxiliary cavity mode via nonreciprocal coupling. We study the entanglement between the mechanical oscillator and the cavity modes when the two cavities are reciprocally or nonreciprocally coupled. The logarithmic negativity E n ( 1 ) ( E n ( 2 ) ) is adopted to describe the entanglement degree between the mechanical mode and the optomechanical cavity mode (the auxiliary cavity mode). We find that both E n ( 1 ) and E n ( 2 ) have maximum values in the case of reciprocal coupling. By using nonreciprocal coupling, E n ( 1 ) and E n ( 2 ) can exceed those maximum values, and a wider detuning region where the entanglement exists can be obtained. Moreover, the entanglement robustness with respect to the environment temperature is also effectively enhanced.

Entanglement optimization of filtered output fields in cavity optomechanics

Xiao-Bo Yan, Zhi-Jiao Deng, Xue-Dong Tian +1 more

Output entanglement is a key element in quantum information processing. Here, we show how to obtain optimal entanglement between two filtered output fields in a three-mode optomechanical system. First, we obtain the key analytical expression of optimal time delay between the two filtered output fields, from which we can obtain the optimal coupling for output entanglement without time delay. In this case, our linearized analysis predicts that the entanglement saturates to an optimal value as the optomechanical coupling is increased. Furthermore, we obtain the optimal output entanglement with time delay. These results should be very helpful in conceiving new optomechanical schemes of quantum information processing with their efficiency depending critically on the degree of output entanglement.

Steady-state entanglement in a hybrid optomechanical system enhanced by optical parametric amplifiers

Abraham Abebe Kibret, Tewodros Yirgashewa Darge, Tesfay Gebremariam Tesfahannes

In this paper, we investigate the degree of steady-state entanglement using a hybrid optomechanical system, where the separate cavities contain a degenerate optical parametric amplifier (DOPA). Particularly, under the linearization approximation, the steady-state entanglement is quantified through logarithmic negativity. The bipartite entanglement between cavity-mechanical oscillator modes and two cavity modes is analyzed through the applicable choice of nonlinear gain of OPA, optical cavity detuning, and cavity-cavity coupling strength. It is found that the steady-state entanglement increases with the nonlinear gain of OPA medium and normalized detuning. We further emphasize the influence of cavity-cavity coupling parameter on the bipartite entanglement, and the generation of entanglement can be transferred entirely due to the coupling strengths. The main contribution of coupling parameters on the entanglement of the two modes of mechanical oscillators significantly altered and increased. The observed possibility of transferring the emerging entanglement of the states of light in the two cavities to the modes of the accompanying mechanical oscillators is expected to be a valuable asset in the practical realization of quantum information processing .

Enhanced entanglement and output squeezing of optomechanical system via a single four-level atom

Guixia Pan, Ruijie Xiao, Juan Gao

Abstract A scheme is addressed to generate the macroscopic entanglement and the output squeezing of optomechanical system with a single four-level atom. Applying the logarithmic negativity to measure entanglement, we analyze the effect of the coupling strength between the cavity and the atom on the entanglement of the cavity and the movable mirror. It is found that the robustness of the entanglement is enhanced with increasing of atom-cavity coupling, and the entanglement has a valley around when Δ is equal to ω m . Furthermore, we also analyze the output entanglement. The results show that the frequency of the mirror oscillation and the Rabi frequency of laser field affect the output squeezing spectrum.

Quantum effects in optomechanical systems

The search for experimental demonstrations of the quantum behavior of macroscopic mechanical resonators is a fastly growing field of investigation and recent results suggest that the generation of quantum states of resonators with a mass at the microgram scale is within reach. In this chapter we give an overview of two important topics within this research field: cooling to the motional ground state, and the generation of entanglement involving mechanical, optical and atomic degrees of freedom. We focus on optomechanical systems where the resonator is coupled to one or more driven cavity modes by the radiation pressure interaction. We show that robust stationary entanglement between the mechanical resonator and the output fields of the cavity can be generated, and that this entanglement can be transferred to atomic ensembles placed within the cavity. These results show that optomechanical devices are interesting candidates for the realization of quantum memories and interfaces for continuous variable quantum communication networks.
