Abstract

By considering the contribution of the higher order term representing the lowest approximation of beyond mean field correction and taking Roser-Zener tunneling as the underling process, we study the nonlinear Rosen-Zener transition of Fermi superfluid gas in a two-level system. We find that the nonlinearity can affect the quantun trasition in the fast scan limit and the adiabatic limit. We also derive the analytical expression for the of rectangular oscillation period dependent on nonlinear parameter. This provides a theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of the basis properties of Fermi gases.

Nonlinear Landau-Zener transition of Fermi superfluid gases

Wen-Yuan Wang, Hongjuan Meng, Yang Yang +4 more

By using the analysis of phase, fixed point and tunneling rate between two wells, we study the nonlinear Landau-Zener transition of Fermi superfluid gases in a two-mode system. We find that the interaction between fermi pairs can affect the quantum transition. We also find that when the interaction parameter c is less than the critical value c*, in the adiabatic limit, the quantum adiabatic transition theorem is still satisfied, but when the interaction parameter c is greater than this critical value, the quantum adiabatic transition theorem will not be satisfied. Finally, we obtain the relationship between the tunneling rate and the scan rate by comparing with the linear case.

Rosen-Zener transition in a nonlinear two-level system

Difa Ye, Libin Fu, Jie Liu

We study the Rosen-Zener transition (RZT) in a nonlinear two-level system in which the level energies depend on the occupation of the levels, representing a mean-field type of interaction between the particles. We find that the nonlinearity could affect the quantum transition dramatically. At certain nonlinearity the 100% population transfer between two levels is observed and found to be robust over a very wide range of external parameters. On the other hand, the quantum transition could be completely blocked by a strong nonlinearity. In the sudden and adiabatic limits we have derived analytical expressions for the transition probability. Numerical explorations are made for a wide range of parameters of the general case. Possible applications of our theory to Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) and solid-state physics are discussed.

Tunneling dynamics of superfluid Fermi gases in an accelerating optical lattice

Lu Tie, Ju-Kui Xue

The nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling and the nonlinear Rabi oscillations of superfluid Fermi gases between Bloch bands in an accelerating optical lattice are discussed. Within the hydrodynamic theory and a two-level model, the tunneling probability of superfluid Fermi gases between Bloch bands is obtained. We find that, as the system crosses from the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) side to the BCS side, the tunneling rate is closely related to the particle density: when the density is smaller (larger) than a critical value, the tunneling rate at unitarity is larger (smaller) than that in the BEC limit. This is well explained in terms of an effective interaction and an effective potential. Furthermore, the nonlinear Rabi oscillations of superfluid Fermi gases between the bands are discussed by imposing a periodic modulation on the level bias and the strength of the lattice. Analytical expressions of the critical density for suppressing or enhancing the Rabi oscillations are obtained. It is shown that, as the system crosses from the BEC side to the BCS side, the critical density strongly depends on the modulation parameters (i.e., the modulation amplitude and the modulation frequency). For a fixed density, a high-frequency or low-frequency modulation can suppress or enhance the Rabi oscillations both at unitarity and in the BEC limit. For an intermediate modulation frequency, the Rabi oscillations are chaotic along the entire BEC-BCS crossover, especially, on the BCS side. Interestingly, we find that the modulation of the lattice strength only with an intermediate modulation frequency has significant effect on the Rabi oscillations both in the BEC limit and at unitarity; that is, an intermediate-frequency modulation can enhance the Rabi oscillations, especially on the BCS side.

Rosen–Zener transition of two-component Bose–Einstein condensates

Xin Yu Jiang, Wen-Shan Duan, Sheng-Chang Li +1 more

Rosen–Zener transitions of two-component Bose–Einstein condensates in a nonlinear two-level system are studied. The intensities of interspecies interactions which can be adjusted by Feshbach resonance can affect the quantum transition dramatically. The percentage of both components also has an important effect on the quantum transition probabilities. It is also found that the quantum transition can be completely blocked by either strong interspecies interactions or large percentage of the component. In the sudden limit, the approximated transition probabilities for each component are obtained analytically. In the adiabatic limit, the equivalent classical Hamiltonian is obtained. The fixed points and the eigenenergy level structures are also obtained. Finally, for some special cases, the period of the rectangular oscillation as a function of the percentage of the number density and the interspecies interaction is obtained analytically. All the analytical results are compared with numerical simulations and good agreement is obtained.

Rosen–Zener transition in a nonlinear nonreciprocal two-level system

Keyan Liu, Han Zhang, Haiyu Cheng +3 more

The dynamics of the Rosen–Zener transition (RZT) in interacting two-level systems within nonreciprocal systems is examined, where nonreciprocity stems from asymmetric couplings between energy levels. For the linear case, an analytical expression for the RZT probability is derived. In the nonlinear scenario, numerical experiments are utilized to investigate the impact of various initial states and scanning periods on transition probabilities under adiabatic conditions . Additionally, an equivalent classical Hamiltonian is formulated to elucidate the origin of transition asymmetry under different initial state conditions. The influence of energy level detuning on the RZT is explored, leading to the suggestion of new applications for studying parameters of two-level systems related to nonlinearity and nonreciprocity. This opens avenues for potential Rosen–Zener–Stückelberg interferometry implementations.

THE EFFECTS OF THE BEYOND MEAN FIELD CORRECTIONS OF FERMI SUPERFLUID GAS IN A DOUBLE-WELL POTENTIAL

Wen-Yuan Wang, Wen-Shan Duan, JIE LIU

By considering the contribution of the higher-order term representing the lowest approximation of beyond mean field corrections, we investigate a superfluid Fermi gas confined in a double-well potential in Bose–Einstein Condensation (BEC) side of the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (BCS) to BEC crossover. Two limited cases of deep BEC regime and BEC regime of BCS–BEC crossover, corresponding to the two-body scattering length a sc is small enough and large enough, respectively. We derive a simple two-mode model that could depict the dynamics effectively. With making thorough analysis on the two-mode model and its corresponding classical Hamiltonian, we find that the Josephson oscillation or self-trapping phenomenon could emerge at certain parameters. We find three kinds of the phase states: Josephson oscillation (JO), oscillating-phase-type self-trapping (OPTST) and running-phase-type self-trapping (RPTST). The dependence of these three phase states on the dimensionless interaction parameter y = 1/(kFa sc ) and the initial system energy are given in this paper.
