Abstract

By using the analysis of phase, fixed point and tunneling rate between two wells, we study the nonlinear Landau-Zener transition of Fermi superfluid gases in a two-mode system. We find that the interaction between fermi pairs can affect the quantum transition. We also find that when the interaction parameter c is less than the critical value c*, in the adiabatic limit, the quantum adiabatic transition theorem is still satisfied, but when the interaction parameter c is greater than this critical value, the quantum adiabatic transition theorem will not be satisfied. Finally, we obtain the relationship between the tunneling rate and the scan rate by comparing with the linear case.

By considering the contribution of the higher order term representing the lowest approximation of beyond mean field correction and taking Roser-Zener tunneling as the underling process, we study the nonlinear Rosen-Zener transition of Fermi superfluid gas in a two-level system. We find that the nonlinearity can affect the quantun trasition in the fast scan limit and the adiabatic limit. We also derive the analytical expression for the of rectangular oscillation period dependent on nonlinear parameter. This provides a theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of the basis properties of Fermi gases.

Nonliner Landau-Zener tunneling of a Bose-Fermi mixture

In this paper we study the nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling of a boson-fermion mixture in a double-well potential by adjusting the interaction parameter of its components. We find that the tunneling in the system can be affected by adjusting the interatomic self-interaction parameter. Moreover, we notice that the tunneling in the system show a critical phenomenon if variation of interatomic self-interaction, and critical point are given.

Tunneling dynamics of superfluid Fermi gases in an accelerating optical lattice

Lu Tie, Ju-Kui Xue

The nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling and the nonlinear Rabi oscillations of superfluid Fermi gases between Bloch bands in an accelerating optical lattice are discussed. Within the hydrodynamic theory and a two-level model, the tunneling probability of superfluid Fermi gases between Bloch bands is obtained. We find that, as the system crosses from the Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) side to the BCS side, the tunneling rate is closely related to the particle density: when the density is smaller (larger) than a critical value, the tunneling rate at unitarity is larger (smaller) than that in the BEC limit. This is well explained in terms of an effective interaction and an effective potential. Furthermore, the nonlinear Rabi oscillations of superfluid Fermi gases between the bands are discussed by imposing a periodic modulation on the level bias and the strength of the lattice. Analytical expressions of the critical density for suppressing or enhancing the Rabi oscillations are obtained. It is shown that, as the system crosses from the BEC side to the BCS side, the critical density strongly depends on the modulation parameters (i.e., the modulation amplitude and the modulation frequency). For a fixed density, a high-frequency or low-frequency modulation can suppress or enhance the Rabi oscillations both at unitarity and in the BEC limit. For an intermediate modulation frequency, the Rabi oscillations are chaotic along the entire BEC-BCS crossover, especially, on the BCS side. Interestingly, we find that the modulation of the lattice strength only with an intermediate modulation frequency has significant effect on the Rabi oscillations both in the BEC limit and at unitarity; that is, an intermediate-frequency modulation can enhance the Rabi oscillations, especially on the BCS side.

Tunneling dynamics of superfluid Fermi gas in a triple-well potential

苟学强, 蒙红娟, 王文元 +1 more

The tunneling dynamics of superfluid Fermi gas in a triple-well potential in the unitarity regime is investigated in the present paper. The fixed points of the (0, 0) mode and the (∏, ∏) mode are given. We find that the interaction parameter U and the coupling strength k could have an extreme effect on the quantum tunneling dynamics. We also find that, in the zero mode, only Josophson oscillation appears. However, for the ∏ mode, the trapping phenomena take place. An irregular oscillation of the particle number in each well could appear by adjusting the scanning period T* . It is noted that if the scanning period is less than a critical point T , the particle number will come back to the fixed point with small oscillation, while if T > T* the particle number cannot come back to the fixed point, but with irregular oscillations. The dependence of the critical point T* on the system parameter of coupling strength k is numerically given.

Nonlinear Landau-Zener tunnelling

The basic properties of the nonlinear Landau-Zener tunnelling,a new quantum tunnelling phenomenon is reviewed, which is discovered in interacting two-level systems, such as Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices and molecule magnets. It is found that the nonlinearity induced by the repulsive interaction can enhance the tunnelling probability compared to the usual linear Landdau-Zener tunnelling. When the nonlinearity is strong enough, the adiabaticity can break down:an infinitely small external linear force can cause finite tunnelling probability.
