Intrinsic decoherence effects on tripartite GHZ state generation using a trapped ion coupled to an optical cavity

Abstract

We analyse the effects of intrinsic decoherence on the probability of generating a tripartite GHZ state using a cool trapped ion coupled to a single mode of the cavity field and interacting with a resonant laser field. Milburn equation is solved for this tripartite system to obtain the time evolution of density matrix as a function of cavity-ion coupling, laser-ion coupling, and the size of unitary time step relative to the time scale determined by system parameters. Starting with the system prepared initially in a separable state, density matrix is used to calculate the probability of tripartite GHZ state generation using coupling strengths reported in a recent experiment.

Decoherence of tripartite states—a trapped ion coupled to an optical cavity

S. Shelly Sharma, E de Almeida, Naresh Kumar Sharma

We investigate the non-dissipative decoherence of three qubit system obtained by manipulating the state of a trapped two-level ion coupled to an optical cavity. Modelling the environment as a set of noninteracting harmonic oscillators, analytical expressions for the state operator of tripartite composite system, the probability of generating maximally entangled GHZ state, and the population inversion have been obtained. The pointer observable is the energy of the isolated quantum system. Coupling to environment results in exponential decay of off diagonal matrix elements of the state operator with time as well as a phase decoherence of the component states. Numerical calculations to examine the time evolution of GHZ state generation probability and population inversion for different system environment coupling strengths are performed. Using negativity as an entanglement measure and linear entropy as a measure of mixedness, the entanglement dynamics of the tripartite system in the presence of decoherence is analysed.

Dynamics of Tripartite Entanglement

S. Shelly Sharma, Naresh Kumar Sharma

Maximally entangled states are of utmost importance to quantum communication, dense coding, and quantum teleportation. With a trapped ion placed inside a high finesse optical cavity, interacting with field of an external laser and quantized cavity field, a scheme to generate a maximally entangled three qubit GHZ state, is proposed. The dynamics of tripartite entanglement is investigated, using negativity as an entanglement measure and linear entropy as a measure of mixedness of a state. It is found that (a) the number of modes available to the subsystem determines the maximum entanglement of a subsystem, (b) at entanglement maxima and minima, linear entropy and negativity uniquely determine the nature of state, but the two measures do not induce the same ordering of states, and (c) for a special choice of system parameters maximally entangled tripartite two mode GHZ state is generated. The scheme presented for GHZ state generation is a single step process and is reduction-free.

Intrinsic decoherence in a system of three symmetric two-level atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity field

Tamer A. Seoudy

Abstract This work provides a theoretical study of a quantum system consisting of three two-level atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity field, focusing on the effects of intrinsic decoherence (ID). The system’s evolution is modeled using Milburn equation, with atoms initially excited and the field in a coherent state. The dynamics evolution of linear entropy (purity), the $$l_1$$ l 1 -norm (coherence), and the mean photon number (collapse-revival) are analyzed. The results indicate that, as the decoherence parameter $$\gamma$$ γ increases, purity and coherence decrease, and collapse-revival features are progressively suppressed. These findings highlight the key role of intrinsic decoherence in degrading the quantum properties of atom-field systems, which is essential for understanding and improving quantum technologies under intrinsic decoherence.

Intrinsic decoherence of entanglement of a single quantized field interacting with a two-level atom

Bin Shao

How the mean photon number, the probability of excited state and intrinsic decoherence coefficient influence the time evolution of entanglement is unknown, when a single-mode quantized optic field and a two-level atom coupling system is governed by Milburn equation. The Jaynes-Cummings model is considered.A lower bound of concurrence is proposed to calculate the entanglement.Simulation results indicate that the entanglement of system increases following the increasing of intrinsic decoherence coefficient or the decreasing of the mean photon number.Besides that, the entanglement of the system decreases, while the probability of the exited state increases from 0 to 0.1,and increases, while the probability of the exited state increases from 0.1 to 1.

Tripartite entanglement generation using cavity-QED and its dynamics in dissipative environments

Bilal Farooq, Rabia Tahira, Manzoor Ikram

We investigate the generation of tripartite field states inside the high-Q cavities using the cavity QED. The main goal is to successfully generate the entanglement in tripartite systems by passing two-level atoms through three identical high-Q cavities. Our scheme gives the successful generation of entangled tripartite W and GHZ states for pre-determined interaction times of atoms with the cavity fields. The dynamics of initial entangled states is studied as the system evolves in the dissipative environments.
